Cracks In Cement Walls

Featured Replies

Up north we are experiencing one of the most severe droughts that I have seen. No substantial rains for 6 months now and ground drying out and moving [shrinking], evne the houses that are built correctly with ring beams under are suffering cracks in walls from the ground movement. Nothing structural, mostly cosmetic, but a couple of cracks go thru all the way and I can see light thru them.

I did a little patching with latex wall putty and it shrank and the cracks grew, so now my plan is to wait until the rains come and hopefully the ground will stabalize.

Any one else out there with cracks in walls????

Very very dry down here in Pattaya as well, my new house is settling and we have some surface cracking, I just filled all the cracks with Bosny exterior acrylic wall putty. It says it's resistant to shrinking and cracking so we shall see. Black plastic tub with red lid.

I would have used a spatula to work the filler in but my workers used their fingers to push and work it deep into the cracks.

They say it is better like that, dunno but so far so good, nothing. :o
