Trike Registering

Featured Replies

If I bought brand new honda phantom fully registered and legal, then converted to Trike without altering the original bike,

would it still be legal to drive .Have gammy leg and cant afford a car.Hope someone can help.

Not trying to be nasty but how on earth can you "convert it to a trike without altering the origional bike" ??

I see Thais riding around on all kinds of dodgy home made trikes.. How a farang can get away with it I dont know... I know here on phuket they are giving even legally registered and 100% previously accepted beach buggies hel_l about needing new road worthiness certs and tax history on all parts even after they have been thai regged for ages.

Funny, I see all the motorcycles with the food cart thingy added all the time. Technically, isn't this a "trike". Based on that, why would it be so difficult? If you have a gammy leg, and don't want to go through the hassle of registering or whatnot...just add a food cart!

I've seen numerous scooters running around with what are, in effect, training wheels (ends up with 3 wheels across the back) no modifications to the bike itself - is this the type of thing you mean?

Actually, adding a sidecar would probably be the best option :o

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

They are however illegal..

Can easily convert without altering bike by doing as crossy says and adding stabiliser wheels of large diameter to get look, put on nice bodywork and arches to cover centre and it looks like trike and doing same job.Simple conversion can be removed in about 10 minutes if need be.Sounds like will have to convert bike make it look tidy, and take my chances carrying a pocket full of tea money. :o
