Hi Everyone -

Haven't been to Samui for 2yrs!..... in your opinion, which of the above is nicer? We'll be staying in the standard room in either of them.....

My only memory of the Regent is staggering through the resort at about 2am, going to "Sunlight Bar"..... about 4 or 5 yrs ago.... LOL.... Used to be an Anong Guest House resident back then (that run down place behind Green Mango)...... back in the day of "Your Place" party's...... and "Asylum" on the mountain top at Shane's place......

Bringing the parents along this time though, and I have a 2yr old baby girl now, so I'm looking for a bit of class & comfort.

Thanks for your input.............. much apprecaited.

Amari: Better service, better breakfast, quieter beachfront, good mix of guests, All rooms renovated, property is spilt in two parts: Superior rooms on the beachside quite small but close to beach, Superior in the Thai Village nice and spacious, crossing the road is not an issue at all, the Italian 'Prego' restaurant is one of the best on the island

Regent: Closer to action, generally quite nice and spacious rooms, good live band at 'Red Snapper', nice lush gardens

If prices prove to be similar I would recommend the Amari...

Thanks for that - great reply!

Location - I'm quite familiar with the distance.... Amari being a little walk from the centre, which is not necesarily a bad thing.... the same could be said however for being closer to the action.... there are pro's and con's.

I think the key to it is service really..... and the Amari group in general seem to have this by the bucket load, and prices are in fact slightly cheaper in the Amari...... I was thinking that the Amari would be the better "all round" place.... and I think the smaller "superior" room near the beach will be the one to go for......

Thanks again for the reply - anyone beg to differ?
