A friend of the Mrs. is getting married in a couple of weeks and they want to have a fireworks display similar to what the hotels do.  Anyone have contact info for this so I can pass along to the Mrs.?

This thread piqued my interest so I started googling. No luck for companies in Phuket but I found these:

Siam International Fireworks Co Ltd.

Address : 2302-6 New Road Bangkholaem Bangkok 10120 THAILAND

Phone : (66) 2 291-8186-8

Fax : (66) 2 292-0766

And,

The Blare, Fireworks Display and Supply

It's in Had Yai but apparently they do displays all over Southern Thailand. Phone number and address are listed on their website:

The Blare

If you wouldn't mind, could you please post any prices you find? :o

Also, just found this:

Permits for using fireworks

If I want to have fireworks at my party, do I have to ask any permission? If so, who do I ask?

Thursday, January 10, 2008 Miss Lee, Phuket City.

“To let off fireworks at your party, the law requires you to first obtain a permit from the District Chief. Companies that sell fireworks or specialize in fireworks entertainment usually organize this for their clients.

Your application for a permit to use fireworks must be include: the reason for the celebration; which types of fireworks and how many fireworks will be used; a copy of your house registration document (tabien baan); a copy of the ID card of person in charge; and the permit to buy fireworks.

The permit to set off fireworks is issued free, but you should allow at least a week for the permit to be approved.

If the permit is issued, we contact the police and let them know that location where the fireworks will be set off to ensure that it will be done safely.”

Thanks.  That's a good place to start, but after seeing the New Year's displays here, there has to be quite a few outfits.  I'm sure these guys in BKK can point us in the right direction.  Will do on the prices.

Cheers!

As i drove to Patong last week i happened to notice a big sign on the left hand side before you get to the Mosque, it's an ad for fireworks not sure if they do displays too. Sorry to be so vague but it just caught my eye . If you start looking from the bend by the Temple as you drive down you'll surely see it as it's so big.

Thanks Royale.  I will send the Mrs. that way to have a look.

yeah ive seen that too. another thought is fire dancers. yeah, yeah. i hear all of you groaning and rolling your eyes, but there is a wonderful duo called ELEMENTRICKS and they are absolutely fantastic. the guy, Loch, is Australian and his partner (i think her name is Jaz) is Thai. they do THE most sexy show. i saw them for the first time at a dinner with thaigerd at Indigo and they were smokin.
