It could have been one of many.

One popular Umphur for marriage is Bang Rak. The love district. Does that ring any bells?

To replace a missing marriage certificate you will need to file a loss report at any police station and maybe pay 20 Baht or thereabouts for the police report.

Once you’ve identified the Umphur you were married at, take the loss report to the Umphur where you were married. They will issue a certified copy of your original marriage paperwork for a miniscule charge.

Note, you will not be issued a replacement certificate, only a copy of your original paperwork which can be used as proof of marriage.

Good luck in your search. Have as much information available when you call, preferably have a Thai person call. The Umphurs don’t appear to be computerised. They have the original documents filed in big books so the marriage date and names in Thai will help considerably.

I’m unfamiliar with Umphurs apart from Bang Rak.

If it helps jog your memory Bang Rak is located about 100 metres down a street. As you enter the Umphur there's a 2 storey building on the left with car parking underneath. On the right of the drive there is a sala and then the entrance to a building where marriages take place.

As you enter that building there are waiting seats are on the left against the windows. There’s counters on your right with the desks for marriage past these counters towards the rear. On the rear wall there may have been a big red heart or something similar. The office hasn't changed much since the mid 80's.

I hope that helps.
