Anyone know where I can buy a piece of 2 or 3mm thick aluminum sheet? Needs to be about 25x15cm. Maybe a good hobby store? Thanks.

Certainly in a sheet metal workshop where such a piece would be classed as an offcut. The thickness is a common size in aluminum sheeting.

Any suggestions for a shop? The metal shops I have stopped in have sheet steel, but not aluminum. Window shops have some aluminum strip, but not sheet. Tks.

I've seen aluminium in the shops but never any aluminum.

Oh, you're a BIG help. Pommy b*stard. My spell checker is highlighting yours as incorrect!

There is a shop that sells a lot of sheet aluminum. Go east past the train station to the super highway, then north (left) on the super highway frontage road. About 500 meters, just a bit past Amnuay Motor Air turn left in the first soi and you will see it about 60 meters down on the left. The guy next door does a lot of aluminum work and might have some small pieces.

I was looking for a "foot" for a metal 3" post and was directed to Chiang Mai Rd Metal Shop - its on the 1141 Highway (heading East) - the right turn at Airport Central just past the PSI Satellite Shop on the same side just before the road construction ongoing now - yellow shop, signs all in Thai. The shop is spotless - and Thai Chinese boss very good english and clearly marked prices.

Hi all! I would like to ask if you guys know any local selling aluminium tubes/rods in Chiang Rai? I am working for a non-profitable community project called Build a Music School (https://mlkkbuildamusicschool.wordpress.com/)  (http://buildamusicschool.org/) in Myanmar. Due to budget problem (we rely on donations only) and scarcity of materials there, we are looking into stores in Chiang Rai. Would really appreciate if any locations can be shared as we will visit Chiang Rai in Mid Dec.
Thanks!

We are a world away from Chiang Rai, try posting on their own forum.

Also try telling people its for a temple, you will find everyone will throw their last baht at it.
