How do you know if the electrical fittings in shops here are standard compliant with British or Aus/NZ standards?

Electrical fittings eg socket outlets and plugs and many RCD units which have adjustable trip settings would not comply.

DIN rail mounted MCBs would probably pass if they are designed to IEC standard.

Electrical fittings comply with TIS (Thai Industrial Standards) that are manufactured in Thailand are suitable for use in Thailand only. They would not be permitted to be installed in countries that use IEC or AS/NZ standards.

Design is the main reason they would fail the specifications in IEC and AS/NZ standards.

US electrical fittings would fail to pass compliance tests for the UK and Aust/NZ in many cases, where they would pass TIS or JIS (Japan) or the standards of other countries.

The fact that electrical fittings do not comply with a particular countries standards does not mean that they are not safe.

It is a design and compliance issue.
