NO way to get from Chumphon to Samui without stopping at Tao or KPG first. To go direct you have to go further south to Donsak and then its a short hop to Samui. If you are driving then its not a bad drive, especialy from Surat to Donsak. Its around 2 1/2 hours extra by car so around the same as ging by ferry but instead of 4 + hours on a ferry you have 1 1/2 and I know I would rather spend the extra time riding than sailing. You could always charter a boat to take you direct but you are talking big bucks. Out of the 2 main ferry companies I choose Searan over Lompraya. They may be a little slower but the ride and the staff are far better, plus the last 3 times to Tao on Lompraya it broke down. Enjoy :o

everytime I pick anyone up from seatran in bangrak in samui it is always late!

I think all the ferry services here leave a lot to be desired........
