Hi,

We are about to relocate to Thailand in October from the UK.

I have read your mails about needing a work permit for shipping goods duty free.

I am assuming that I can ship things into Thailand without a work permit but will be of course taxed on the shipment. Right?

anybody has any idea of how much the duty taxes are?

many thanks

Steph

I can't offer too much help, but I do know that a few times I have had samples of clothing shipped to me here. With a declared value of $20, I was charged around $12 duty! There must be a site somehwere that lists duty charges in LOS. Anyone have any idea?

Hi Halfpast,

thanks for the mail.

We are planning to ship a computer, printer, fax, complete Hi-fi equipment, DVD player.  Can you kind of give me a rough idea of what you think the tax duty would be, based on what you shipped and paid?

I hope you don't think this is a rude question as that would be so helpful. thank you.

I think the tax would be through the roof, if it even all got here and got here in one piece. Once you add in shipping, I really really doubt it would be worth it. I would sell it all there and replace them once you're here.

Unless the hi-fi equipment is something special (i.e. real high end stuff that may not be available in Thailand), I doubt that it's worth hassling with shipping any of the listed items.

Hi All,

Thank you..... it certainly makes you think! I think my husband will not separate himself from his Hi-fi as it is quite something and it matters to him, but perhaps the rest should saty here and we'll get other things out there....

something to really think about!

thank you
