Full reviews here http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews100692.html

Good Points: d22 king cab it has none.

Bad Points: 57k engine broken 19/06/2008 4th conrod through engine side estimated cost £6k + fitting and vat timing chain changed at 42k £2.5k to repair dec 2007. Oil filter housing changed at 45k early jan £600.00 to fix 2008 reguler service every 6k nissan no help pay for survey and we may help.

General comments: You should have been in the fast lane at 60 mile an hour when the con rod went harrowing doesn't discribe the full effect catastrophic engine failure is the technical word for it. Very disapointed with the nissan aftersale attitude no help at all. Thanks Nissan you are no help, been with you for 12 years 4 vehicals good bye cannot afford you any more as your customer after care is very poor the main point you miss is no more customers no more sales we will not come back and bad news is bad news for your company what worries me is on this site quite a lot of us isnt there maybe its already to late. Hope so!

not being mechanical, com rod, timing chain, engine on my Nissan Navara are knackered. Need i say more? Are Nissan and there outlets unaware they have a problem with the Navara engine? Rep told me its good motoring for four years, i would not want to see a bad one!

Engine oil leaks from my Nissan Navara, intercooler cracked, injectors had to be replaced £800, crank sensor failed, electric window switch failed, engine noise in cab horrendous, engine rough and agricultural, compared to previous Isuzu powered ford ranger (Mazda), whole headlight out to change side light bulb!, dash lights too dim at night no adjustment I fitted larger bulbs in the end, steering stops groan on full lock, CD radio rattles in dash, mine fitted with 17" rims no real good o ...

My Nissan Navara is 19 months old and 29,000 miles on the clock, the engine blew whilst it was idling. Broken camshaft, broken timing gear teeth, bent valves, hammered pistons, etc.. Having major rows with Nissan warranty claims dept to get it sorted. Dealer is very helpful but Nissan themselves are painfully slow to respond. Vehicle is still off the road after a fortnight.

I do like the Navara. I don't think a Nissan is so bad. But there are all the time some bad apples out. I do not see how Nissan solved the problems. If you do you go it for service you will be covered by guaranty. So you may tell us a little bit more.

I don't think your UK Navara review is a fair assessment of the Thailand Navara. The Navara is a fairly new model to Thailand where it has been sold in the UK since 1986. Actually sounds like a sour grapes review to me.

My next new pickup will be an Isuzu so I am not being partial to Nissan. Fair is fair and this review is NOT fair to the Thai Navara.

D21 Navara

First generation D21

Production 1986-1997

The D21 Navara is a compact size pick up truck manufactured from 1986 to 1997. It is better known as the Nissan Hardbody Truck, which replaced the Datsun/Nissan 720 pickup truck.It is known for its extremely reliable engine and fabulous safety.

[edit] D22 Navara

Second generation D22

Production 1998-2005

Engine(s) 2.5ltr/3.0ltr/3.2ltr Turbo Diesel

2.4ltr petrol

Transmission(s) 5-Speed manual

The D22 Navara is a compact size pick up truck manufactured from 1998 to 2004. However, Nissan continue to build the D22 on a low scale, and is known as "Pickup".

The first D22 Navaras during 1998 to 2001 have a slightly different cosmetic appearance to the newer models (2001 onwards). The styling changes were designed to attract younger buyers into buying the pickup trucks.

The first series of D22's had larger 3.2 litre Turbo Diesel engines. The second series has 3 available engine types. They are as follows:

* 2.4 litre, DOHC, 16V, 4 cylinder, producing 110 kW (148 hp) @ 5600 rpm and 208 N·m (153 ft·lbf) @ 2600 rpm.

* 2.5 litre, DOHC, 16V, 4 cylinder, producing 100 kW (134 hp) @ 4000 rpm and 304 N·m (224 ft·lbf) @ 2000 rpm.

* 3.0 litre, DOHC, 16V, 4 cylinder, producing 110 kW (148 hp) @ 3400 rpm and 314 N·m (232 ft·lbf) @ 2000 rpm.

The 2.5 litre Diesel engines are Turbo charged with intercooler, and the 3.0 litre is Turbo-charged but is not intercooled.

The OP must have bought a Friday afternoon built one!.

Though in the post it states 19 months old & 29k miles so you would expect better.

My Navara is 13 months old, no problems so far, though did have the oil pump changed due to a faulty batch being fitted. Dealer phoned my wife to bring the vehicle in. I have been on several long journeys in Thailand and it performs as I expected, good on fuel consumption too with the 6th gear.

One of the main reasons why I bought a Navara was the price, 619,000 Baht, just could not justify the money for a more up market Isuzu/Toyota.

I will have it dealer serviced for the next few years and I am not too concerned with future problems as in this town there are at least 3 workshops that will repair a pickup truck for you, I have seen old Frontiers completely rebuilt all probably after a lifetime of hauling fruit & veg to Bangkok everyday of the week.

Happy motoring
