U-turn in down to trat

Featured Replies

Yesterday I had the unique privilege of doing a U-Turn in Trat. The board was correct but here are some updates as I found.

The cost of the Visa was 1200 Baht not 1000 and they only would take Thai baht not the $20 USD I brought. The med card was a joke to say the least. I did not have one with me (left it back home) The Medical inspector placed one on the window and I handed it back to him. That was good enough.

After I processed my Visa I went to the Arrival window they asked me how long I was staying etc? The then requested 200 Baht for some fee. (My gut tells me they were ripping me off.) Then processed the paper work and ten min later I was back in Thailand for 30 more days.

IF someone could confirm that the extra 200 baht was a scam that would be great.

Thanks all..

Cambodian Immigration in that room won't take USD even though they stamp $20 on the visa. They have been doing that for many years. Refusing to pay their total won't do any good as they will just laugh or tell you to leave.

That is their "fine" for not staying over one day in Cambodia. They know many farangs are going back over the border to Thailand and make money on that too.
