You need to tell Firefox to use Java. It's somewhere under preferences. I'd be more helpful, but I don't run Windows soI'm going on memory.

if you have the popups switched off, but you wish to have them appear on some sites you have to add the domain names in the allowed section, so only ppopup originating from the domain names you have entered will work.

for example I have thaivisa.com as allowed.

To allow popups from a website, you go in Tools/Popup manager/Allow popups from this site.

But maybe you have also another popup blocker ? (Google toolbar, kpf...).
