Is The Tot Internet Connection Down All Over Samui?

Featured Replies

My TOT internet at home went down sometime late Friday, early Saturday. It's Monday afternoon and it still isn't working. My neighbor and a friend down the street are having the same problem (I'm typing this from the food court at Big C - where wireless is free).

I called TOT Sunday morning and they said a tech would be out to check. Maybe they did, maybe they haven't yet. I just want to get an idea how big the problem is. Is it all over Samui or just in Bangrak where I live? Oh, and WHEN THE HECK ARE THEY GOING TO FIX IT??

No problems here. Can't tell you when they're going to fix it though.

My frend, also on TOT in Bang Rat has lost connectivity since last friday. P*ss poor service. I've notices a load of Bank of Ayuddya ATM's in chaweng have been offline also all weekend? Possibly related?

Mine went down, back but so slow.Did a speed test, download 42K, lucky I also have Maxnet on another puter.TOT so disapointing.

There is also big promblems with TOT in Phuket, we where down Friday, called TOT and they mentioned it was a nation wide promblem

My neighbor also told me that the ATMs near us were not working either. These big boys should have been able to get their sh*t together by this time.

just change to CAT...we did a few months ago...now never down and much faster.

CAT telecom, 2 years, dedicated ADSL 2Mb. Never a problem. My speed test 1750/1800 Kbit/sec, always. The only problem is 2700 baht/month.

I tried doing that when I got here with the help of a local IT specialist and was told they didn't have any available lines.

As for speed, I pay TOT for a 2mb line and have never seen it above 1.7mb download or 400 upload (according to the Thaivisa speed test). Here at Big C it just tested at 2.4mb download and .752 upload.

I'd love to change to something quicker but I'm not sure how much longer I'll stick around Samui so it may not be worth it - unless TOT can't get this fixed.

get a CAT aircard...its about 700 THB /month (hardward 5-12,000 depending on speed).

Just got word that it's working again. I'll be sad to leave Big C as I was just beginning to like that "No Place Like Home" music coming from kiddie play area. Not.
