tdavidst Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Hi there, I have a degree (Bachelor of Economics) and a post graduate degree in Applied Finance and Investment- both obtained in Australia. Question is do I require a Tesol / Tefel qualification to teach in thailand ie to get the teachers licence. thanks
mopenyang Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 It's my understanding that TCT regulations don't mention such a document/qualification. Interesting question, though, and someone else may be able to shed more light on the topic. Good luck!
PeaceBlondie Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 A TEFL certificate is helpful, but not required by government agencies in Thailand. Some employers may require or prefer it, especially for teachers without foreign experience.
Scott Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 As PB mentioned it may be helpful, but it is not required or necessary. If you are new to teaching, it's not a 1/2 bad idea to get one since it can be quite daunting to walk into a classroom without any experience or training.
