Getting uk phone unlocked

Featured Replies

I HAVE A MOBILE PHONE I DO NOT NEED HERE IN THE UK. I WILL BE GOING TO LOS IN NOVEMBER. WHAT IS THE LATEST IN GETTING THE MOBILE PHONE UNLOCKED TO PUT A THAI SIM CARD INTO IT. MY PHONE IS A CONTRACT PHONE. DO I NEED TO GET IT UNLOCKED HERE BEFORE I GO TO LOS. CONTRACT IS OVER OCTOBER.
Don't need to get it unlocked; just buy a prepaid SIM in TL. I have done this with quite a few Cellnet/O2 mobiles over the years (4 different phones). Suspect Vodaphone, etc will be the same. Even if you do have a problem, mobiles are pretty cheap now in LOS; not the way it used to be.

My personal choice is AIS. http://www.ais900.com or their pre-paid service http://www.one-2-call.com

DTAC and Orange are in the second division, especially outside Bangkok.

If you plan to use GPRS, don't choose DTAC, their GPRS is much slower and unstable compared to AIS.

Maybe it was once. This year in January I bought two sim cards in Phuket (DTAC and Orange) for me and my wife.

We travelled by car south to Malaysia and then north to Petchaboon province.

Lost signal only for a 50 Km while heading north in the Petchaboon province.
