Settlement Visa

I was hoping that by sending my wife's application by post it would eat up some of the possible 12 weeks waiting time! If only the application goes and no covering documents doesn't that make any difference to the appointment. Are the embassy staff ok with only the application and a covering letter, they don't get "shirty" about this way of applying do they?

You mention that i should indicate when my wife will return to thailand and we want the interview then. Two things- my wife's visa here expires on 14 jan well before the 12 week scenario and secondly we were going to use up the rest of the waiting time by visiting a company that i own in Indonesia, so my wife was going to return only for the appointment. Can you see anything wrong with my plans?

In your letter ask for an interview date after 14th Jan. If you're going to Indonesia first then simply work out a date when you'll be in Thailand and request that day for the interview.

If you were to submit the supporting documentation now it would be outdated by the time of the interview anyway, so there is no harm in supplying it on the date itself.
