Aids Meds. Options Poor Thai In Patani

Featured Replies

As the title really. I have a late middle aged distant relative in Patani who is extremely ill and has been diagnosed with AIDS. We're left scratching our heads as to how. Hospital just seems to have packed him off and told him he has 3 months.

I thought combination therapy was available!! How can he obtain this. If not, any other options?

it is available and to my understanding, available through government hospitals. Where was he hospitalized in pattani? Was it a government Provincial Hospital? If not, that is where he should go.

If the family has the resources, there are excellent AIDs specialists in Bangkok, see pinned notice (should bring all lab results with him to avoid repeat tests). However to get the drugs free or at reduced cost it would have to be through government hospital.

You (or one of the family) could also try contacting the Thai Network for People Living with HIV/AIDs (an advocacy group)

Thank you Sheryl. Actually big thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi try MMS. We have one person with aids using MMS and feeling better. he hasn't gone back for his check up with the doctors yet but soon. I will keep you posted. See post under dengae fever.

Hospital just seems to have packed him off and told him he has 3 months.

My sympathies to your Family member, but i would not of thought that hospital dismissed him and to be told you have 3 months without medication ?

Quite possibly. I don't have the full facts. They acted on info. and he will be going to the main hospital early this week.

Happy to report that the patient is receiving aids medication.

Glad to hear it and thanks for letting us know.

The hospital he went to initially should, of course, have referred him to the provincial hospital and was remiss in not doing so...or maybe just clueless?
