My friend who I met in Bangkok wants to see snow. Which non-asian country can I take her to, on a tourist visa, for a couple of weeks? I want to apply to the country which has the easiest visa requirements thus allowing her the most chances of getting a visa. My own country does not have snow.

About the girl -

Thai girl from bangkok

Not a bargirl

Running her own shop for 6 months, working in sister's shop before that for 5 years

Educated and can speak English

Never travelled outside Thailand before

Known me for 10 months

I have visited her twice in the 10 months

Emails everyday and many phone conversations

Doe not have a big bank balance (less than 20,000 bahts)

Not my fiancee or wife

Will be sending her -

Return tickets to the destination

Hotel Bookings

Some sort of tour booking (maybe)

Copies of my tickets from Bangkok to the destination and visa

Copies of my credit cards and bank statement to show I can support her

Sounds difficult...........why does she have to go to a NON-Asian country just to see snow? Sounds a bit dodgy to me.

Why not Japan or northern Myanmar? They have snow in winter. I believe Nothern Thailand (in the mountains has snow too)...no visa required. :o

Go to Dream World north of BKK where they having a snow slope. Made artificially but dammed near same as the real thing.

Never met any Thai wanting to see snow badly enough to leave for another country just to see it.

Sorry, but you're coming across as though the girl wants to work in another country.

Japan is hard for a Thai person to get a visa to, better to check out harbin in China. Lots of snow in the winter up there and easy to get a visa for her.

An American place would be Chile, not that hard to get a visa and the Andean Ski resorts are absolutely wonderful.

Sorry I didnt quite make it clear. I want to take her on a vacation to a non-asian country and she would prefer it to be a country where she can see snow.

Chile is good, I will keep it on the list, though I fear the air fares might be more expensive than for more popular countries.

How about Russia? Any other country with easy visa permits?

Neole, why dont you contact the Russian Embassy? It would be much easier and the information would be more precise.........

Russian Embassy

78 Sup Road, Bangrak, Bangkok 10500

Tel : +662 268 1169/234 9824

Fax : +662 237 8488

Office Hourse : 730-1430 (Mon - Fri)

If she doesnt have much money in her bank (I would advise against you "lending" her the money) and not enough "evidence" (no property in her name, new business and etc) she will come back, it may be tough.

May I also add, its a FREE holiday for her..........she shouldnt be so choosy!! If she is so choosy now, imagine what she will be later in life :o

Good luck!

No visa at all required for Peru. Should be able to find snow there in winter time.

SK1972 - thanks for the advice and tips. I know she shouldnt be too choosy but might as well keep her happy.

PvtDick - Peru.. will have to research that. Only place Ive come across the country is in Tintin comics. I suspect flights will be expensive.

Ravisher - thanks. Greece is a great choice, though I didnt know it had snow! Will check up. This girl too wants to play in snow and build snowmen, though I personally find snow too cold :o

BadboyBrown - I would love to go to NZ. I had thought its visa would e tough so never tried looking there.

alleypanda - Prague sounds good and Ive been meaning on going there. Is it a part of Schengen? I assume not.
