Retirement/non immigrant visas

Recommended Posts

As my wife is now a British Citizen, please could someone

advise on the best approach to obtain yearly type 'O'

visas for settlement in Thailand. I am 55 years old and wife is 40 and unfortunately (for me) her Thai passport has long been expired. We are currently resident in UK.

  Kind regards, Len. (New member).

So glad to have discovered this very helpful site.

The two options are retirement with 800k in the bank or support which only requires about half that.  Your wife is still Thai with or without a passport but she should be able to get a new one if you contact the Embassy or a consulate and fill out the paperwork.  Here in Thailand the are only interested in her ID card in any case.  If that is also expired she will probably have to get at her home district here.  I am sure a consulate would issue you the basic non immigrant visa even if her documents are out of date if you can prove marriage; and then you could take care of the other things here.  And if you want to apply for retirement visa it would not even matter as your wife can be any nationality in that case.
