Waiting Time For Settlement Visa

Featured Replies

My wife and I have just handed in our visa application, and they told her that the waiting time is a month.

Just thought I would post that in case anyone is about to apply.

Very annoyed (although expected) as we wanted to fly back together in a couple of weeks. Just have to play the waiting game now!

Hi - my wife and I were told we had upto a 12wk waiting period but then 2wk later we had the passport complete with visa returned. So i think these waiting times are only indicative and assuming your application is water tight you could expect it back much sooner hopefully. Good luck.

You could be lucky. There are a number of factors which may determine how long your application takes. Number of applications received is the obvious one. If they have a backlog then you'll obviously have longer to wait. On the other hand, if your application is so watertight that it couldn't be rejected, you may get an answer quickly. It's always a bit of a risky thing to plan things very tightly with flights and visa applications.

Wow, thats a shock for me. I had planned to be in bkk in November, get the visa and fly back together after a couple of weeks.

My wife and I will have already waited 11 months because of TB problem and treatment. This puts another spanner in the works.

Anyone more actual recent experience, the application should be straightforward for us.

Many thanks.

It depends purely and simply on demand. Applications are dealt with on a first come, first served basis.

At quiet times you will get a decision within 5 working days, but the busier they are the longer it takes.

If an interview is required then again the wait depends on demand, if busy it can take up to 3 months.

My girlfriend applied online for a settlement visa on 10th August and was given an appointment to submit her documents on 15th.

She then didn't hear anything until 3rd September and has been given an interview date of 30th September.

Well we handed in the application on the 17th, and we had a phone call to say that her passport was ready for collection on the 23rd so just 5 days to wait in the end. We weren't able to collect it ourselves straight away, so we had a friend do it for us, and got it back a couple of days ago.

SHE GOT IT !!!! WOOOOO HOOOOOO !!!

Thanks to all the help I got from this forum I knew we would get it anyway :D

I still have a few days left in Thailand, but when I get back if anyone would like me to upload some docs I would be more than happy to do so.

Once again thank you to everyone who has helped.

BB22 :o

Well Done. Now the real fun starts - good luck to you both and a big welcome to the UK for your other half.
