Soi Kaotolo Farang Motorcycle Deaths!

Recommended Posts

Posted

I understand from friends of my wifes who own a restaurant opposite that within a few minutes of each other, 2 motorcyclists hit the hole in the road outside the New Inn on Soi Kaotolo over the weekend and that both have died.

This is absolutely terrible as this hole (now filled in of course) has been a danger there for months with nothing being done about it until too late!

2 in 20 minutes??? This is unbelievable ...........

And why hasn't this made the local news? I understand that the local press did show ..but nothing yet

With the best will in the world maybe it hasn't made the news because it's hearsay.

It's a giant conspiracy.

It reflects badly on Thailand so of course the story had to be buried.

Sorry mate didn't want to wind you up but in the OP there is nowhere written that your wifes friend SAW IT HAPPEN.

Second as with so many posts on this forum it happens so many times that the reality is only a fraction of what is posted.Remember the post in newsclippings a few weeks ago about the construction collapse with at least 50 death which happened to be some people injured.

I live in Soi Khao Talo and heard nothing about by the way.

If it really happened as you mention my apologies for the unnecessary wind up and r.i.p. to the victim.

i drove past that hole the other day and looked like a farang had come off his bike(looked like a phantom or similar)............and now its been concreted. you know they only do things like(quickly) that after a serious incident and probably dont want to report too much on it as it was an accident waiting to happen ,for months. should have been concreted the first time the hole appeared instead of stones and what not as usual. if someone has died then that is an unnecessary death and these things should be brought out in the open but hey this is pattaya...too busy lining there pockets to worry about causing deaths.

i wonder if the riders involved were wearing helmuts ....im not keen on wearing a lid myself but with the roads out here and the amount of accidents then it should be enforced more on everyone and not just the farangs in town.........i worry everytime i see a bike with very small children on board zooming about all with no helmuts. i ask my lovely girlfriend(she may be reading this!) why they dont drive slower or get kids to wear a lid. her answer" they dont care" which basically means if something happens then they dont see it as there fault, something like buddhas will...........what a croc of s hite, and a shame for the children........ i suppose thats what city hall thinks about this hole, they died thru no fault of theres. i would feel guilty as hel_l but hey im just a farang in a foreign world!!!!

Wouldn't be the first time.

A few months ago a poster claimed his friends saw a farang get kicked to death on soi Diamond, right beside the Heaven's Above club.

Yet despite dozens (hundreds) of people in the area at the time, no report of even a fight, let alone anyone dying. I don't think that poster has ever come back to TV either. Just a troll trying to wind people up.

I checked the local (English) media online and haven't seen any report of this oddly enough.

I’m passing that point every day and the hole was there for some time, just waiting for disaster to strike. Judging from the flowers left on the side... RIP.

The quick fix is a typical Thai behavior. Probably someone filed a complaint by the authorities and in order not to draw any further reaction the repairs came overnight. Case closed.

Authorities will not even consider any responsibility let alone apologize to the relatives concerned. Denial and non confrontational behavior combined with their concept of losing face firmly takes control. No news, No investigation, time will heal all.

talking about the BIG hole in soi kaotlo.

did any one actually noticed the big holes on sukumvit?

the first is between north pattaya and central pattaya on the side to go to sattahip.

and the next is also not faraway.

just 100 meters before south pattaya sukumvit road, also on the same side to go to sattahip.

i my self drive very fast on the bike on sukumvit it is ok in the day time because you can see the holes but at night i once got my front wheel broken because of that, but luckily did not fall of the bike.

noticing that the goverment is doing nothing except to fix the other side which was 80% better then the other. :o

i think they are going to eventually do both sides but they need a rest/holiday before startin the other side, maybe a yr or 2 :D

by the way i suggest you slow down as you know the roads are bad allover and take extra care at night too.just an idea as theres lots of holes :D

I am a small bike rider (125) and driving around Pattaya takes all of your senses to be working all the time. If you drive a bigger machine at higher speeds and are not careful the risk of a crash is amplified .

Driving at night is another story altogether with the darkness and poor road quality.

Unless you drive the same roadway hundreds of times a day you will never know when a new hole shows up. Even if you crossed that spot in the morning the hole may have magically appeared that day.

The only real safe way at night is park the bike and stay home. Barring that slow down and don't drink.

If you have lived here long enough then you know the road conditions are poor. If your a tourist reading this then all I can say is be very very careful especially at night.

The roads are what they are will not get fixed anytime soon.

My condolences to the victims--whether real or imagined. Condolences even if the victim in this case (of a rumor) is the OP.

Ive said it before and ill say it again, the roads in pattaya are worse than in phnom penh,, it seems you have to be an enduro rider to conquer some streets, bloody disgrace,....

I lived off of Soi Kaoh Talo for a year & a half or so. Everyday same story. at least 1 or 2 accidents.

In addition to people just floating out into oncoming traffic (no head check at all- just assuming they have the right of way)

The road is (like a lot of Pattaya area ) in a state of total disrepair. We had one girl drive into a power pole near our beauty salon while she was gabbing on the mobile. When the road flooded we watched a dirt bike fall in a hole(he couldn't see. It was a real flood) Not to mention the area where the old food market was- A haven for wrecks. 2 months after they moved the market & hacked the road to shreds we moved. The problems of that road as most roads .is the lack of decent training in driving & No self defense techniques given to the new Thai drivers at 8 years old!----or 18 years old. They had a wire on a sewer grate dangling for 5 months till it got caught on a 125 Honda rear tire I am sure the driver got hurt. The county finally cam out with a bolt cutter(or torch) & cut the remains of the wire off. Kaoh Talo is a death trap!

if you think that soi kaotalo is a death trap then how about that soi muslim? (soi nernplubwan) when the market open or in the midday cars motorbikes they are all over the place. but that is nothing compared with the roads in pattaya city they drive like "when i want to go i will go" and they do no care if something is coming from the back or not.

so not just watch out in soi kaotalo but everywhere in town.

You might be surprised, but I find riding in central Pattaya still better than in the Soi's East of Sukhumvit. Those Sois are really under dimensioned for the number of cars and bikes especially during the rush hours.

Anyway, under all circumstances I try to avoid to ride myself after sunset, due to poor visibility combined with terrible road conditions and drunken drivers...

Well I will never take my bike out to go into pattaya if I don't really need to for some reason.I've been all over Thailand several times already with the bike without any problem.I always say between Tesco jomtien and the flyover at the 36 road is the scariest part of Thailand once you pass those point the world seems to change.

The driving habits and road conditions you experience here I have never seen anywhere else in Thailand.Even in the poor Isaan region the roads are better then in Pattaya and the mentality of the drivers a lot better.

Eh? What does this mean?

2 killed in 30 minutes!!! One guy from Park Rungland and another on the way home to Tepprasit road after spending the evening having a drink in a bar in Soi Kaotolo

Still no official news about this ..........

2 killed in 30 minutes!!!

Huh uh.

First it was 2 killed in 20 minutes, now it's 30 minutes.

Either way, I find it highly unlikely 2 people would have died at the same spot within 30 minutes of each other. For starters, the crowds, police and Sawang Boriboon would (probably) have still been at the scene of the first accident.

Unless of course, they all arrived within a few minutes of the first crash, moved the body, the bike, cleaned up anything else and departed mere minutes before the second accident.

Yeah, strange, isn't it ? 2 farangs allegedly die at the same spot within 20-30 minutes of each other, and not a whisper of it any where except here.

It must be a part of the massive conspiracy that normally reports every little event that involves a farang. From pick-pockets to necklace snatchers to drunken bar fights to balcony jumpers to drug dealers to assaults to accidental drownings (etc, etc).

But when 2 die within 30 minutes of each other, at the same spot ? Got to cover that up !

I allowed for some exaggeration re the timing from those who witnessed both incidents!

From my friend living in the lake Mab area who is now having to take care of all the paperwork for the Tepprasit chap and in thr other case from the witnesses themseves who knew of him ( in Park Rungland)

I've highlighted musiclover's response to my last post, so people can actually see who wrote what.

At least the mystery has been solved. The Big Giant Conspiracy has covered it all up. The bodies have disappeared. The bikes disposed of. The hole filled in remarkably quickly. Silenced the witnesses. Suppressed the Press.

Now if the BGC could only find a way to close this thread..........

the roads all around the dark side seem to be getting worse by the week .

i live out by mulligans bar mabrachan lake and to call them pot holes is a joke, we have 2 sections of the road now which are worse than a dirt track . accidents waiting to happen not only for a motorbike which would surely be fatal but enough holes to give a car a bit of damage

Once again

So, after all these posts, was anyone actually killed? (posts#21 and #27)

I mean, they must have identities, or were these stolen in the conspiracy?
