First of all, a big thanks to everyone who responded to my latest query about riverside restaurants in BKK. Great tips, we just can't wait to get there.

During our visit we would also like to visit local Muay Thai boxing rings in BKK, we will obviously be visiting Lumpini Park for the big fights but as we love the sport so much we would like to frequent local places as well. We will be staying at the Marriott, any around there??

Also, as Europeans we love football i.e. soccer, is the Thai football season still on in Oct/Nov. or no chance of watching a proper match?

Last but not least, anybody know of any trustworthy and reliable local thai guides (english speaking)to show us the true BKK life ,to take us beyond tourist places.

Thanks a million in advance!!

Hi there Helen:

Regarding your football question, there is no chance of watching a proper match of football in Thailand. :o However, we get most of the major European leagues on TV here.

For the tour guides try Essential Travel, they are very good and my parents have used them on a number of occassions when they are in BKK.

As regards the football there are a couple of games left. It looks like Chonburi are going to win it, but BEC Tero are also near the top. Check out Thai premeir league for Fixtures. I beleive that BEC Tero are playing on the 10th of October at Nong Chok stadium in Minburi.

There will be a Thai national football team match on 6, 8, and 10 December. All of those will be in Bangkok, most likely at Rajamangala National Stadium. The matches are very cheap and can be fun.
