Penang Airport To Georgetown

Featured Replies

Going to Penang to day and i'm flying. Have never flew there before. So my question is. Whats the easiest and cheapest way to get into town? Not exactly sure where i'm staying yet.

Take a taxi, not too sure about the bus though. Anyway Penang is not that big.

If you planning to get a hotel only when you are there, you might want to tell the taxi driver to drive you to Cititel Hotel, Georgetown. Not that i am trying to promote the hotel but there's alot of other hotels within that area for you to choose from. All within walking distances, with variety of prices.

How much does it cost roughly?

Bayan Lepas Airport in Penang has a prepaid taxi system (as do most airports in Malaysia). Purchase your coupon inside the terminal building. Fare to central Georgetown (KOMTAR area) should be in the RM 25 to RM 30 range. I was in Penang last week, stayed at the Hotel 1926 and the taxi fare from the airport was RM 28.

just b4 you exit the building it is on the right hand side.

i saw a fella took the bus one time, but for a first timer i recommend taxi, don't be cheap you're gonna suffer.

You can get a 'normal' Bus (Number 66) that is about a 8 to 10 minute walk away but I wouldn't know how to tell anyone here how to get there (unless someone can suggest a decent map of the Airport & environs!?!). I caught it from Georgetown to the Airport and as mentioned here the Taxi fare is at least 27 Ringgit into Georgetown. The Bus is 2 Ringgit!!!!!!!!!

It is not Air Con'd but you get to meet the locals!

It takes over an hour though as opposed to 30'ish minutes by Taxi.

Time v. Money... Up to you...

p.s. The Bus goes from/to the Bus Terminal at Komtar!!!
