October 8, 200817 yr A 130kg Gold Coast schoolgirl will represent Australia at the first Junior Women's World Sumo Championships starting this weekend. Samantha-Jane Stacey, 14, will muscle in on the competition in Estonia as Australia's strongest medal hope. "I'm so proud to represent my country," she said. Samantha-Jane, known as 'Sammy Sumo' when sporting her tightly-wrapped mawashi sumo belt, has been wrestling for nine years but was introduced to sumo wrestling by her brother two years ago. "I love it because it's a physical, body-contact sport but you've also got to use your brain and have mental tactics," she said. Despite tipping the scales with the weight of an obese man, she insists she has a healthy diet including lasagna, salad, fruit and Weetbix. "I have a medical condition that does not allow me to lose the weight... a side effect of that means I look obese," she was quoted as saying in the Daily Mail. She will compete with the world's top sumo stars alongside fellow Gold Coast teenagers Kelsie Homer, 18, and Vanessa Homer, 14. President of the Australian Sumo Federation, Katrina Watt, said sumo wrestling was becoming popular in Australia. "You need balance, flexibility and body strength and that has attracted new converts from judo, wrestling and gymnastics," she was quoted as saying in the Gold Coast Bulletin.
October 8, 200817 yr Author Didn't she get dumped on by KFC ? Probably not - she looks like she could dump on pretty well anyone she wants CB
October 8, 200817 yr Sad case really. I have the same medical problem. With me, the symptoms are triggered by twenty pints of beer a day. ( I know I'm a wus, but I've only got two hands and I have to sleep ).
October 8, 200817 yr Didn't she get dumped on by KFC ? Sponsored by KFC more likely! Seriously, I ca't believe a fourteen year old girl can weigh 130kg's. That looks downright un-healthy.
