I am in the process of renewing my work permit and I was required to show my personal income tax returns (pnd 1). I am being told that because I am an American I have to show at least 60,000 baht of monthly income on my tax return. My true salary was 30,000 and therefore had to resubmit my monthly tax return and pay the tax on the additional 30,000 baht. I would just like to know if this is correct because I have not found any information on the internet about this 60,000 baht minimum salary for Americans.

Believe you need to show the 60k per year to obtain a one year extension of stay and yes that is the rule - the amount just increased this year and is based on your passport - you have the high card. :o

Americans are perceived to have the highest standard of living and

are expected to keep up the standard here as well.

Lopburi, allow me a small correction: 60 K is the minimum income per month, not per year.

Don't want to sound persistent, just to avoid confusion.

One other small point - it was not the Work Permit office that required 60,000 baht monthly salary - the Labor Ministry has no such requirement. It was Immigration that required this amount, in order to issue or renew an extended entry permit for an American.
