Nation Channel makes northern debut tomorrow

CHIANG MAI: -- Nation Channel will make its first appearance outside the capital tomorrow when it airs its debut news broadcast in Chiang Mai with programmes specially designed for Northerners.

Adisak Limprungpatanakit, editor of Nation Channel, said the “news station for Chiang Mai residents” would begin broadcasting at 6am tomorrow on WeTV’s Channel 9.

The 24-hour news station would be called Nation Channel Chiang Mai, he said, and would cover current affairs and trends in the northern city and neighbouring provinces.

The station will become Chiang Mai’s “first news station for communities”, he said.

“Our goal is to create a new alternative for Chiang Mai residents and visitors and provide them with news and information so that they can catch up with rapid changes in this northern metropolis,” Adisak said.

The Chiang Mai station’s daily schedule will include news programmes in the Northern dialect, phone-in complaints programmes and programmes featuring public-forum debates.

Adisak said that the station would be staffed by news professionals from publications of the Nation Multimedia Group Plc, which operates Nation Channel and The Nation.

The station, Thailand’s first 24-hour news station, is broadcast on Channel 1 on free-to-air Thai TV cable television and can be received in Bangkok and surrounding provinces.

So... how/where does one receive this in Chiang Mai?

WETv is the local Cable supplier. Under 400 Bt per month.

Mango Tree has it amongst other places. If it is not on, just ask.
