Has Anyone Seen The New Child Protection Tv Commerical

I woke up this morning and started my day the same way I have done for many years.

A cup of coffee and catching up on the dear old BBC. What horrified me was a new TV ad about child exploitation which had me in tears.

It shows a man walking down an dark small back street. Sitting down all alone is beautiful young child.

At an hour when the poor dear really ought to be in bed.

The kindly man offers her an apple. She takes it and then.. to my horror .. reaches for the fly in his trousers.

It then cuts.. thankfully.. I could not bear to watch anymore. My eyes were full of tears...it was too much for an old flame like me... the suggestion being that this poor child only used to kindness with a catch.

I take an active part in various charitys and this horrific commercial has caused me to want to help these poor innocents and any organisation which is geared towards this area.

Can anyone please point me in the right direction please.

I spend apx 2/3 of my year in thailand now.

And I would also like to ask what other people think of this ad. Never has anything caused me so much distress. Once again my eyes are full of tears and I am shaking, because I understand how this very scene must be an actual reality for many children.

Is it really so common, so public and so helpless?

Thank you

That scene might unfold in other countries were children are starving but Thailand is not that place. Exploitation of children happens but you wont be seeing desperate kids performing sexual favors for apples. There is an abundance of food in Thailand, you dont need much if any money to survive and even the soi dogs are well fed by locals, a child would definately be getting fed. However being pimped out by your parents or gangsters is something else and would be more in line with the kind of child exploitation that might happen in Thailand.

Sabum - I think the apple is just symbolic (like Adam & Eve) it depends on the country, I'm sure there are countries where a child would consider an apple a real treat.

I agree with the OP a shocking state of affairs and full credit to the commercial for making such an impact.
