Hey party people,

Can anyone tell me if metal detecting and beachcombing legal in thailand?  I want to bring a metal detector from the states to look for treasure left on the beach.  I know that panning for gold requires a permit, and I don't think you can use a metal detector for that anyway, but could I get away with trolling beaches as a hobby?

i have seen thais doing this after the full moon party- i doubt they would take kindly to farang competition.

Definately seen Thais comb the beaches with a metal detector, not sure about legal status though.

Possible work permit issues..........

As if you find anything it's financial can, could be construed as working.
