In its place, we see the reassertion of Persia as the natural, enduring hegemon of the Near East. By dismantling the old guardrails, the Trump administration did not create this shift; it merely accelerated a historical inevitability, bringing forward a long-overdue reckoning for which, in the interest of regional clarity, we should be grateful.
