Hoping to travel from BKK to KooChang- KooChang- BKK- BKK- KHONKEAN-BURIRAM-BURIRAM-CHAING MIA.

Ok with the BKK-KOOCHANG travel.

Problem is Hotel in KhonKean and hiring a car 4wd from KHONKEAN which I will use to travel to Buriram and then to ChaingMia from Chaing Mia fly to BKK.

IV got 3 weeks to do this.

Help and good advice needed i.e. car hire and places to stay KHONKEAN-BURIRAM-CHAINGMIA.

Yes this should be in the travel section but here it will get a wider audience.

Lots of hotels in all the cities mentioned. Problem might be renting vehicle in KK and dropping in CM. Why do you need 4wd? It's dry season now. Do a google search on KK or look in Isaan forum for links.

It should be in the travel section, forget the audience, there are some good links there for hotels and the like so will move it.

Links to hotels in KK can be found in two places, first pinned in the issarn section (hotels in Issarn), second go to the KK sitehere, you'll find info on the hotels there.

It has a section on where to stay with comments from people who have stayed in them.

I also don't see the need for a 4WD and agree that getting a vehicle there and leaving in CM would be a problem. Put a post in there about hiring one and your plans and someone will help out.

Any particular reason for having to drive from KK to Buriram and then Chiang Mai?

Just curious. :o

GF is from Buriram she says Korat FIRST not kHONKAEN.

Hi Bizz,

I think Budget will wave the cost of a relocation if you hire for three or more days, but they may have changed it to seven. Drop off at the airport.

I have had the touch to drive from Surin to Chaing Mai at New year. My advice - but a map, I have done over 40,000km sonce Songkran and I am in no hurry to do that drive - fly.

Look at it another way - its about 1500 km. A diesel truck will give you about 10km / litre. at about 15b a litre (upcountry prices) thats about 4500b (round trip) just in diesel. Petrol add about 25%.

Flying or busing it is cheaper by far.

Depends on how you value your time.

Driving yourself gives you the chance to take that side road and really see the country.
