A friend is a Thai policeman currently deployed near Swampy and he reckons it will take 5 days to clear the mess and restart once the airport is cleared of the PAD.

His guess, more informed than mine, is that it could be at least 2 weeks before the airport returns to full operations.

Is that the same airport authorities who only 2 days ago said that it would be reopening today?

And even if they start now (which is unlikely) that will make 10 non-operational days, 300,000 travelers, almost a third of a million outbound pax that they have managed to completely p1ss-off, most of which will vow never to return, and then there is the equal number of inbound (at this time of year probably a higher number) who have probably now gone somewhere else or just stayed home.

Whether the reds and yellows decide to duke it out today or not makes very little difference, neither does the location, that will just make a good headline, the main damage has already been done.

(sorry, that wasn't airport operation status news)
