i have been trying for the last month to find a single award seat on just about any airline from bangkok to any city in europe, early january; there was nothing. i called the airline programs every day checking every posible routing and there was nothing. not one single seat anywhere in cheap charlie class for me. i estamate that i have spent 30 hours trying to find this. my date of return was flexible and my outgoing flight from bangkok was ok to go to any city in europe. how much more flexible and undemanding can i be?

Then the P.A.D. protests happened.

Praise be to Jesus. I called the airlines, and now there are lots of award seats when i want to go, as lots of tourists have cancellled their thailand travel plans. so there is a "silver lining" in all of this. i get to use a free award instead of paying out of pocket a lot of money. so thanks, protesters. you've done me a great service. ok, so you've ruined the thai tourist industry in the process, maybe caused millions of thais to lose their tourist jobs over the newxt few years, but i get to go free.

and people are right to cancel their tourist plans. they shoudln't have their vacations ruined by traveling t places that can't protect their own airports; tourists are innocent. they should and will go and spend their $$$$elsewhere.

i suggest tourists to go mumbai; even with all their troubles their airport is operating completely normally.
