Immigration Home Visit

hi a friend of mine just called and told me that immigration is asking to come to his house to visit with him and his wife. is this a standard practice by the immigartion dept? P.S. he is renewing his O visa at this moment

That at times is what they do to verify that the couple are living as husband and wife.

It is one of the reasons that there is 30 day wait while they consider the application.

immigration came took a few photos of the couple together, the wife filled some papers and they were on their way quick and easy.

after they shot a few games of pool by the swimming pool

I had them do this once on my 1st request for a visa extension based on marriage.

They still ask for the photo's and stupid endorsements from the Consul in Bangkok

Yes, it is standard procedure. If the couple have a child together, as a rule, they will not visit the couple's home.

When they came to our house we didn't even know it.

They interviewed a few of the neighbors - found out what they needed to know & went back to the office.

I will bet they check out 100% of applicants.

I had no visit. But that was because the immiration office gave us an envelope with a letter to our local police We delivered it to them, they wrote letters and we then returned those to immigration a few days after the date I appliced.

We also gave no photos of us around the house and etc.

I had no visit for my first application. But we had to take a Thai neighbour to Immigration to be interviewed and sign a statement.

One reason I am glad I left Samui.

Entirely normal.

Good to have a local friend around who can swear that you are in fact living together.

No need for the husband to be around, if he is working.

My wife has handled this without me on more than one occasion.

We brough photos of us together and all the rooms of our home and a map to our house.

If they came we never heard about it...
