Pattaya Style Art Gallery In Bkk

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm looking for some cheap paintings for my new condo and restaurant and was wondering whether there are any art galleries in BKK like those you see on Walking Street in Pattaya. I've already looked at the small shops in JJ/Suan Lum but their selection is generally limited to Thai modern art and comparatively expensive whereas I'm looking for reproductions/originals of western art. Does anyone know of inexpensive art gallery in BKK with a large selection and their own artists similar to KC Gallery in Pattaya?

Thanks

You should try contacting Jeffery Stanthorpe, he is an artist of the highest quality. I understand that he sometimes posts here on TV, so maybe somebody could put you in the right direction.

try chatuchak market's art section.

Thanks for the replies. I've tried Chatucahal aleady but it's mainly modern Thai art and comparatively expensive. I'm looking for a Pattaya style reproduction gallery.

On Silom at Soi 17 just past the Indian Temple is a place called Samui Art. Typical repro shops that I always see in Pattaya, Samui, Phuket, etc. Have not gone in and priced anything but has been there about 2 years now.

You can try Samui Art on Silom, a couple on the ground floor of MBK and Ming Art Gallery on Soi Wattana Wong, (the Soi inbetween The Indra Hotel and Ramada/Bangkok Palace/Eastin hotels in Pratunam). I don't know about prices but the latter has by far the biggest selection with about 700+ reproduction/decorative paintings on show when I last looked in.

You can also try Pictory at Home Decor Building in Thonglor. They sell prints rather than paintings and are a bit expensive but they have a nice selection frames.

try chatuchak market's art section.

huh?

the OP mentions having been there and not found what he was looking for ....

I have had some work done by students from Silpakorn U's art department (across from the Grand Palace)

Thanks for the pointers everybody :o

I tired Samui Art in Silom but the quality was rather poor, next I went to MBK but they really specilize in portraits rather than having a big selection of paintings. I finally got what I wanted at Ming Gallery in Pratunam - large selection of over about 700 paintings and fair prices too.
