January 5, 200917 yr Hi, just a simple question, see above. Explanation: I tend to use two signatures. One on my passport and another one for money related transactions. By this the person eventually "finding" my passport (just in case) will not be able to use my forged signature to withdraw money. Is there anybody knowledgeable here who can tell me how many signatures can one have? It is clear to me that common sense dictates you have one and only one. However, is there any legal document that prescribes you can have only one? Cheers s.
January 5, 200917 yr Not that I know of. I have a notarised signature for signing official correspondence and a totally different one for my bank accounts - both of which differ from my passport.
January 5, 200917 yr presumably as long as you remember which signature to use & when you wont have a problem. There is no central database. But as to legally, I can't see how they (govtmts) can dictact somethign that isn't recorded My signature is clearly in my maiden name & doesn't correlate at all to my married name which is on all banking/passports etc. No one has ever questioned it.
January 5, 200917 yr In Oz, you are permitted to use any/as many signatures and names as you like, provided that no fraudulent purpose is intended. Of course, this would not be the least bit helpful/convenient in most circumstances. I've always used only the one signature and no problems so far... (Where is the crossed-fingers smilie?) E:Grandma
January 5, 200917 yr You can use as many names as you like in the UK. You can make a name change 'official' (so you can change the name on official documents by swearing out a statutory instrument. I've had to do do on a number of occasions as the baptismal name is not the same as the name on my birth certificate and I used to get all sorts of grief with my Merchant Navy documents being different from my passport.
January 6, 200917 yr Maybe we should discuss how many different board names members have? Do you keep one in reserve in case you're banned? It would be far less obvious than inventing one and trying to rejoin immediately after you were banned, I've seen a few try that and the time they lasted could be measured in nanoseconds.
January 6, 200917 yr I only have one, I find it hard enough to post under 1 name without having to think up stuff for another name...
January 10, 200917 yr ^^ I wouldn't have thought that the suggested approach would be any different from newly registering. (A poster is banned one day and then, suddenly, an inactive member becomes active...) I would have thought that the main reasons they get caught out are that they use similar niks, or similar posting style, and they retain the same IP address/ISP. Of course, other clues such as their inexplicable familiarity with other posters/the TV sitescape would probably ring bells as well. If they rejoined and wanted to prevent their discovery (and further banning), I imagine it would be extremely frustrating and involve a heck of a lot of lip-biting (self-discipline), the lack of which probably got them banned in the first place...
January 10, 200917 yr I use 2 signatures, my alias is accepted by the IRD. It came about to keep my relationship with a manager, same surname, where I was working secret. No problem at all, have used it on a number of occassions.
January 11, 200917 yr Yeah, Ping, a wolf in sheeps clothing. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.......... Do I need a smillie ........ ......... ..........
