Hi,

I am a single mother who is on a tourist visa and my daughter is also on a tourist visa of 60 days. My dilemma is I have decided to put her in a bilingual school, The school has agreed to provide the paperworks for an ED visa for her. Where do I go after receiving the papers?

You need to visit Immigration. For your daughter 2.8 and 2.9

Best is to apply for an educational visa for your daughter and a non-immigrant visa for yourself outside the country, at the consulate in a neigbouring country. Vientiane is highly recommended.

When you have the visa and return to Thailand you cna extend her permisison to stay to one year, within the last 30 days of her original permission to stay. You yourself can then apply for a one year extension of stay as her dependent if you can show 500,000 bath in a Thai bankaccount.

Bkkprincess, seeing that you are already in Thailand you will most likely not have to go abroad to get the non-ED visa for your daughter but will be able to change her tourist visa to a non-ED visa at the local immigration office with paperwork provided by her school. For yourself, you get a change from tourist to non-O, also at the immigration office, as mentioned by Lite Beer.
