Can Obama Save Us All?

Featured Replies

Trying to keep up with the jet-set Obama's, I was reading this article when the last sentence jumped right out at me. I found it very amusing. What think you?

One barometer of the plunge in excitement has been the sale of Obama-themed T-shirts, which designers had been banking on after the craze of last year. Clothing labeled with the president’s name sold by the thousands, helping to salvage a tough economic year for the island.

But this year’s T-shirt sales are much less brisk, merchants say.

“Last year, Obama gave you goose bumps, but I don’t think you’re going to see that this year,’’ said Alex McCluskey, co-owner of the Locker Room, who sold more than 4,000 “I vacationed with Obama’’ T-shirts last year. But so far this year, he said, his hot item is T-shirts of former President Bush asking, “Miss me yet?’’

Subject: Don Rickles on Obama and friends

Hello, dummies! Oh my God, look at you. Anyone else hurt in the accident?

Seriously,
Senator Reid
has a face of a Saint - A Saint Bernard. Now I know why they call you the arithmetic man. You add partisanship, subtract pleasure, divide attention, and multiply ignorance. Reid is so physically unimposing, he makes Pee Wee Herman look like Mr. T. And Reid's so dumb, he makes Speaker Pelosi look like an intellectual. Nevada is soooo screwed! If I were less polite, I'd say Reid makes Kevin Federline look successful.

Speaking of the Speaker ...
Nancy Pelosi,
hubba, hubba! Hey baby, you must've been something before electricity.

Seriously, the Speaker may look like an idiot and talks like an idiot but don't let that fool you. She really is an idiot.

Charlie Rangel
... still alive and still robbing the taxpayers blind. What does that make, six decades of theft?

Rangel's the only man with a rent-controlled mansion. He's the guy who writes our tax laws but forgot to pay taxes on $75 grand in rental income! So why isn't he the Treasury Secretary? Rangel runs more scams than a Nigerian Banker.

Barney Frank
... he's a better actor than Fred Flintstone. Consider that he and Dodd caused the whole financial meltdown, and they're not only not serving time with Bubba and Rodney, they're still heading up the financial system!

Let's all admit it ... Barney Frank slobbers more than a sheepdog on Novocain.. How did this guy get elected? Oh, that's right ... he's from Massachusetts . That's the state that elects Mr. Charisma, John Kerry -- man of the people!

You know, if
Senator Dodd
were any more crooked, you could open wine bottles with him.

Here's a news flash, Dodd: when your local newspaper calls you a "lying weasel," it may be time to retire.

Dodd's involved in more shady deals than the Clintons . Even Rangel looks up to him!

Press Secretary
Robert Gibbs
, I really respect you ... especially given your upbringing ~ All you've overcome. I heard your birth certificate is an apology from the condom factory. I don't know what makes you so dumb, but it really works for you. Personally, I don't think you're a fool, but what's my opinion compared to that of thousands of others?

As for
President Obama
, what can I say? They say President Obama's arrogant and aloof, but I don't agree.

Now it's true when you enter the room, you have to kiss his ring. I don't mind, but he has it in his back pocket.

His mind is open to new ideas -- so open that ideas simply pass through it. Obama lies so much, I was actually surprised to find out his first name really was Barack.

Just don't ask about his middle name! But Obama was able to set a record ... he actually lied more in 60 days than
Bill Clinton
.

FOR THOSE THAT VOTED FOR "HOPE AND CHANGE".....

BEND OVER
AND PREPARE TO RECEIVE YOUR BOUNTY!

President Obama just completed the UNHOLY and ANTI-AMERICAN TRIFECTA:

1st president in 110 years to miss the annual Army-Navy Football Game.

1st president to not attend any Christmas religious observance.

1st president to stay on vacation after a terrorist attack.

AND ALL IN THE SAME MONTH! WHAT A GREAT PRESIDENT.

1st president in 110 years to miss the annual Army-Navy Football Game.

1st president to not attend any Christmas religious observance.

1st president to stay on vacation after a terrorist attack.

More mindless blather.

Item #1: It's true that President Obama skipped the annual Army-Navy football game on December 12, 2009, but one needn't look far back in history to prove he wasn't the first president to do so. G.W. Bush skipped all but three Army-Navy games during his two terms in office, attending only in 2001, 2004, and 2008.

Item #2: Press reports confirm that the Obama family didn't attend a Christmas church service in 2009. While it would take far more research than this bit of Internet flotsam deserves to determine who was the first president to miss such an observance in the past 220 years, a quick search of Google's news archive sufficed to prove it wasn't Barack Obama. Woodrow Wilson didn't attend a Christmas church service in 1914, for example, nor did Herbert Hoover in 1929, nor Lyndon Johnson in 1968.

Item #3: A Nigerian with alleged Al Qaeda ties attempted to set off an explosive during an airline flight from Amsterdam to Detroit on Christmas Day, though the device malfunctioned and the plane landed safely. President Obama was vacationing with his family in Hawaii at the time. If it's fair to call an aborted bombing attempt a "terrorist attack," then it's probably also fair to say Obama was the first president to remain on vacation after such an attack occurred. Presidential responsibilities being what they are, however, vacationing is hardly equivalent to doing nothing. Obama participated in ongoing briefings on the attempted attack, ordered enhanced screening and security procedures for commercial airline flights both international and domestic, launched a review of airport security practices including the terrorist watch list system, and issued a public statement on all of the above. Some will argue that Obama should have immediately returned to Washington, no matter what. Fair enough. Others will argue he fulfilled his duties admirably despite not being at the White House.

Reality is that the country is far better off when BO is on vacation.

You just confirmed that each one of Don Rickle's charges was true. "Mindless blather" indeed.

OK, a President doesn't need to be sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office to get anything done so I don't think Obama deserves any grief over this one. HOWEVER, the attack WAS NOT aborted, it failed.

Interesting article sums up BO's performance.

From The London Daily Telegraph On Foreign Relations

This is a very sobering article. Our handling of relationships with the Britons over the oil spill won't help either.

From The London Daily Telegraph Editor On Foreign Relations

Quote:

"Let me be clear: I'm not normally in favour of boycotts, and I love the American people. I holiday in their country regularly, and hate the tedious snobby sneers against the United States. But the American people chose to elect an idiot who seems hel_l bent on insulting their allies, and something must be done to stop Obama's reckless foreign policy, before he does the dirty on his allies on every issue."

One of the most poorly kept secrets in Washington is President Obama's animosity toward Great Britain, presumably because of what he regards as its sins while ruling Kenya (1895-1963).

One of Barack Hussein Obama's first acts as president was to return to Britain a bust of Winston Churchill that had graced the Oval Office since 9/11. He followed this up by denying Prime Minister Gordon Brown, on his first state visit, the usual joint press conference with flags.

The president was "too tired" to grant the leader of America's closest ally a proper welcome, his aides told British journalists.

Mr. Obama followed this up with cheesy gifts for Mr. Brown and the Queen. Columnist Ian Martin described his behavior as "rudeness personified." There was more rudeness in store for Mr. Brown at the opening session of the United Nations in September. "The prime minister was forced to dash through the kitchens of the UN in New York to secure five minutes of face time with President Obama after five requests for a sit down meeting were rejected by the White House," said London Telegraph columnist David Hughes. Mr. Obama's "churlishness is unforgivable," Mr. Hughes said.

The administration went beyond snubs and slights last week when Secretary of State Hillary Clinton endorsed the demand of Argentine President Cristina Kirchner, a Hugo Chavez ally, for mediation of Argentina's specious claim to the Falkland Islands, a British dependency since 1833. The people who live in the Falklands, who speak English, want nothing to do with Argentina. When, in 1982, an earlier Argentine dictatorship tried to seize the Falklands by force, the British -- with strong support from President Ronald Reagan -- expelled them.

"It is truly shocking that Barack Obama has decided to disregard our shared history," wrote Telegraph columnist Toby Young. "Does Britain's friendship really mean so little to him?" One could ask, does the friendship of anyone in the entire world mean anything to him?

"I recently asked several senior administration officials, separately, to name a foreign leader with whom Barack Obama has forged a strong personal relationship during his first year in office," wrote Jackson Diehl, deputy editorial page editor of the Washington Post, on Monday. "A lot of hemming and hawing ensued." One official named French President Nicolas Sarkozy, but his contempt for Mr. Obama is an open secret. Another named German Chancellor Angela Merkel. But, said Mr. Diehl, "Merkel too has been conspicuously cool toward Obama."

Mr. Obama certainly doesn't care about the Poles and Czechs, whom he has betrayed on missile defense. Honduras and Israel also can attest that he's been an unreliable ally and an unfaithful friend. Ironically, our relations with both Israel and the Palestinian Authority have never been worse. Russia has offered nothing in exchange for Mr. Obama's abandonment of missile defense. Russia and China won't support serious sanctions on Iran. Syria's support for terrorism has not diminished despite efforts to normalize diplomatic relations. The reclusive military dictatorship that runs Burma has responded to our efforts at "engagement" by deepening its ties to North Korea.

And the Chinese make little effort to disguise their contempt for him.

For the first time in a long time, the President of the United States is actually distrusted by its allies and not in the least feared by its adversaries. Nor is Mr. Obama now respected by the majority of Americans. Understandably focused on the dismal economy and Mr. Obama's relentless efforts to nationalize and socialize health care, Americans apparently have yet to notice his dismal performance and lack of respect in the world community.

They soon will.

The above post by venturalaw is intentionally misleading if not outright fraudulent. He would have us believe that this entire article appeared in the Daily Telegraph when in fact only the first paragraph did. The next 11 paragraphs were written by a ghost blog writer who calls himself OH Patriot. His nonsense was posted in the ultra right wing lunatic fringe blog called "The Conservative Patriot". Here's a link so you can read it yourself: RW Nut Blog

Here is an actual article written by Mr. Singleton where he addresess the lie filled email that venturalaw obviously received and believed as truth. It is certainly not complimentary of Mr. Obama but is much more critical of GW Bush and the new crop of Republicans who would publish any lie in order to discredit the President and further their agenda of taking the US decades backwards:

Nutty hoax email has Right-wing Americans on my case

By Alex Singleton Politics Last updated: June 30th, 2010

Suddenly I’ve become a poster boy for the Republican Right. It started when Fox News linked to a blog I’d written suggesting, not terribly seriously, that Brits ought to boycott America in retaliation against Barack Obama’s refusal to support us in the Falklands.

Now thousands of emails are being forwarded around the US – particularly in southern states such as Texas – quoting me. The Telegraph’s reader-relations department is being innundated with queries asking if I really called for a boycott of America. And Google tells me that quotes from the post now appear in hundreds of websites.

This would all be fine, except that after the first paragraph in the email, it transforms into a rant about “Barack Hussein Obama”, using bizarre language that certainly isn’t mine. No doubt this email appeals to the nuttier supporters of the Republican Party, for whom politics has ceased to be about principles and is now all about smearing opponents with false accusations about their nationalities and their patriotism. It also contains the delusional claim that Reagan supported Thatcher over the Falklands (he didn’t) and denounces Obama for failing to suck up to Gordon Brown (as if that was a bad thing).

My new fans won’t like me saying this, but while Barack Obama is clearly one of the most hopeless Western leaders at the moment, I haven’t forgiven the Republicans for their disgraceful record under George W. Bush. These supposed conservatives stood by as Bush threw away the wonderful Reagan legacy by signing off on ruinous spending commitments and imposing economically illiterate steel tariffs, as he destroyed ancient civil liberties, and as he sank their country into an ill-conceived and disasterously managed war in Iraq. Britain’s Conservatives, even under Ted Health, have never been that destructive

Very typical of a liberal. Name call and do not challenge any facts that, in this case, expose BO's actions. Just rant on about Bush. It's really getting old. The Democrats are grabbing at ankles on their way down.

I was not being intentionally misleading nor fraudulent. Which acts by BO were inaccurately portrayed or contrived? BTW, I'm not a Republican. Nor am I a Socialist as I suspect is groongthep.

What BO is doing to the U.S. is contrary to what made America great, and it has nothing at all to do with Bush.

Even the conservative intellectual, George Will, broke bread, so to speak, by having Obama over to his home for dinner. I remember Will commenting during Obama's campaign about how bright the young Senator was. However, now that we've experienced the devastation Obama is creating, those who previously supported Obama and are not blindly following whatever the socialist proclaims as truth, are facing the facts.

The following is a recent article by Mr. Will. This is not an e-mail that was floated by a right-wing group. And groongthep, if you choose to insult, at least attempt to point out what facts are inaccurate. Otherwise, you appear foolish.

Netanyahu, the anti-Obama

By George F. Will

Thursday, August 12, 2010; A15

JERUSALEM

Two photographs adorn the office of Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. Together they illuminate a portentous fact: No two leaders of democracies are less alike -- in life experiences, temperaments and political philosophies -- than Netanyahu, the former commando and fierce nationalist, and Barack Obama, the former professor and post-nationalist.

One photograph is of Theodor Herzl, born 150 years ago. Dismayed by the eruption of anti-Semitism in France during the Dreyfus Affair at the end of the 19th century, Herzl became Zionism's founding father. Long before the Holocaust, he concluded that Jews could find safety only in a national homeland.

The other photograph is of Winston Churchill, who considered himself "one of the authors" of Britain's embrace of Zionism. The Balfour Declaration of 1917 stated: "His Majesty's Government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people." Beginning in 1923, Britain would govern Palestine under a League of Nations mandate.

Netanyahu, his focus firmly on Iran, honors Churchill because he did not flinch from facts about gathering storms. Obama returned to the British Embassy in Washington the bust of Churchill that was in the Oval Office when he got there.

Obama's 2009 speech in Cairo, courting the Arab world, may have had measurable benefits, although the metric proving this remains mysterious. The speech -- made during a trip when Obama visited Cairo and Riyadh but not here -- certainly subtracted from his standing in Israel. In it, he acknowledged Israel as, in part, a response to Jewish suffering in the Holocaust. Then, with what many Israelis considered a deeply offensive exercise of moral equivalence, he said: "On the other hand, it is also undeniable that the Palestinian people -- Muslims and Christians -- have suffered in pursuit of a homeland."

"On the other hand"? "I," says Moshe Yaalon, "was shocked by the Cairo speech," which he thinks proved that "this White House is very different." Yaalon, former head of military intelligence and chief of the general staff, currently strategic affairs minister, tartly asks, "If Palestinians are victims, who are the victimizers?"

The Cairo speech came 10 months after Obama's Berlin speech, in which he declared himself a "citizen of the world." That was an oxymoronic boast, given that citizenship connotes allegiance to a particular polity, its laws and political processes. But the boast resonated in Europe.

The European Union was born from the flight of Europe's elites from what terrifies them -- Europeans. The first Thirty Years' War ended in 1648 with the Peace of Westphalia, which ratified the system of nation-states. The second Thirty Years' War, which ended in 1945, convinced European elites that the continent's nearly fatal disease was nationalism, the cure for which must be the steady attenuation of nationalities. Hence the high value placed on "pooling" sovereignty, never mind the cost in diminished self-government.

Israel, with its deep sense of nationhood, is beyond unintelligible to such Europeans; it is a stench in their nostrils. Transnational progressivism is, as much as welfare state social democracy, an element of European politics that American progressives will emulate as much as American politics will permit. It is perverse that the European Union, a semi-fictional political entity, serves -- with the United States, the reliably anti-Israel United Nations and Russia -- as part of the "quartet" that supposedly will broker peace in our time between Israel and the Palestinians.

Arguably the most left-wing administration in American history is trying to knead and soften the most right-wing coalition in Israel's history. The former shows no understanding of the latter, which thinks it understands the former all too well.

The prime minister honors Churchill, who spoke of "the confirmed unteachability of mankind." Nevertheless, a display case in Netanyahu's office could teach the Obama administration something about this leader. It contains a small signet stone that was part of a ring found near the Western Wall. It is about 2,800 years old -- 200 years younger than Jerusalem's role as the Jewish people's capital. The ring was the seal of a Jewish official, whose name is inscribed on it: Netanyahu.

No one is less a transnational progressive, less a post-nationalist, than Binyamin Netanyahu, whose first name is that of a son of Jacob, who lived perhaps 4,000 years ago. Netanyahu, whom no one ever called cuddly, once said to a U.S. diplomat 10 words that should warn U.S. policymakers who hope to make Netanyahu malleable: "You live in Chevy Chase. Don't play with our future."

The article was something I came across while reading about Obama's failed policies. I did not notice that it was a portion of another article. If I was attempting to intentionally mislead, I would not have posted the link, which was the same link groongthep referenced. I was not hiding anything.

Now, other than the fact that the author's entire article was not properly cited by me (nor by groongthep), what FACTS stated therein were inaccurate?

None of the FACTS are inaccurate.

Obama is more dangerous to the US and the rest of the world than Osama Bin Laden ever was.

His Socialistic agenda, so vociferously supported by the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, if left unchecked could bring about a much greater worldwide depression than the 1929 collapse.

Obama is nothing more than a sleazy politician from the sewers of Chicago politics.

My lack of interest in US politics is both deep and long-lasting...

My lack of interest in rhetoric and closed minded bullying by those who seem to think their opinion is the only one that counts (an attitude that seems prevalent among those who discuss US politics) is also deep and long lasting

From what I have seen on this forum, pretty much no one is beyond stretching the truth and ignoring facts that contradict their own point of view in order to perpetuate their own agenda. Some posters just do it more often than others. True "open-mindedness" might be another impossible illussion.

My lack of interest in rhetoric and closed minded bullying by those who seem to think their opinion is the only one that counts (an attitude that seems prevalent among those who discuss US politics) is also deep and long lasting

I agree, but I have also found this attitude prevalent as well among those who are seemingly in positions of influence.

Not only sponsors and paid members, but others who have posted here who appear to believe that they are above it all. You know the type - haughty, arrogant. An attitude that seems prevalent among those liberal, often politically-correct types.

I was asking chuck what he meant, but since you feel you can answer for him, I will respond to your answer..... I disagree with you; I have always felt that the "haughty, arrogant" attitude came from the right (and I am sure I am not alone in thinking that.....the "right" is well known as the "hawks" (as opposed to the "doves")).
