Worst Time Ever In Pattaya

Pattaya has gone down in terms of excitement in the last four years but I blame the fact that bargirls have now got mobile phones and aren't interested in pleasing punters anymore.

Hi Guys.....Yes I can sympathise with the above statement...."What a switch off".... There is nothing that can diminish the excitement more than at the crucial point (with the most gorgeous bargirl of your dreams) when her mobile phone rings and you are left alone on your pillow while she makes amorous arrangements with one of her `other` boyfriends. :D:D

That's when a nice bit o' rope or handcuffs come in handy.

So I'm told. :o

:D You having 15 years experience with that?

"Try getting in one on soi 6 after 1 am."

Maybe I'm missing something....?

Admittedly I haven't walked the yellow brick road of Soi 6 after dark for a couple years, but they were never much of a late night venue IMO. Always seemed to prefer those environs in the mid-afternoon actually.

And not for the stated reasons of being 3rd, 4th,.......

If that's a big concern for you, I would suggest other locations that Pattaya.

Certainly no guarantees that the sweet-smelling dancer you are eyeing in the go-go wasn't with Bruno from Germany 10 minutes ago in the upstairs counseling room.... :o:D

Jeez Dave! Sure wish you'd square away that bog problem you have! :D:D

Let me know next time I'm in town and we'll get a bucket brigade started for you off Pratamnak Rd! :D:D

Better yet.........just keep the beer cold and the music loud!!! :D:D

Soi 6 has changed considerably in the last few years. If not for the 1am closing the Soi would, i'm sure be a venue for late night entertainment.

Many people are thinking the same. But that statement hardly helps Pattaya & the buisness community. :o

Confiscate the phone before you get down to business. :D

You are a brave man Pablo :D

Hey, whatever happened to customer service? :D

Seriously though, I cannot understand any guy that lets a girl leave her phone on while they are 'getting it on". Too soft for their own good I reckon. You are the customer, you are right, if I say the phone is to be switched off then off it goes, if not, she goes.

And a view from the other side of the fence.

I live in Pattaya, my wife has a beauty salon in one of the major bar areas, so most of her customers are bar-girls.

This is the supposed 'high season', yet she is lending money to friends, cutting her prices as fast as she cuts hair, and still the girls are moening.

There are more tourists, yes, probably. But these are the bus-loads of Koreans, japanese and Chinese coming on package tours. The girls are not doing the business they expected and thus probably putting their prices up. (TIT)

Several bar-owners that I know, who rely on passing trade as much as regulars, are less than ecstatic. Dave Thailand is in a different business, lots of repeat clientele and a specialist product.

But the beer bars and go-go's (apart from a few like Polo with a differet philosophy) are not coining it this year.

The streets are packed at night, but the bars along the streets are half-empty. It's the curse of the coach-party.

I agree with SEATramp completely - fings ain't wot they used ter be.

For me and my friends it was also a worse time. I just was coming back last week, after staying Pattaya 5 weeks. It was also the 3rd time in a row I was staying there in December. Streets are packed full more than ever. Of course many of those package tourists. But also much more people from Russia and for instance english boys. From Soi 7 towards soi 2 I was just seeing boys from the island. The worse thing on that, was that they just spoiled the proces as they agreed to any price Bars, Taxis, Gogo's were offering. Giving a shit on 1000B bar fine and 2000B for longtime for the Lady. It has just make shaking my head. One time we were stepping out of the Buffalo Bar and we wanted to drive down to Walking street. The driver offered 250!!!! Baht to the english boys and the agreed at 200!!!! Usually we are taking the ride for only 60-80B!!! For us it was unbelievable what we have seeing. Furthermore, if the boys (not only the english) are going to pay all the prices, the Ladys have enough money than and are not willing to "work" anymore.

My freinds I we will not comeback during this time. That's for sure. Only bad thing is, that all of our friends we do know down there, are likely coming in December time to Pattaya.

Just my thoughts and feeling to this time and thread.

I wonder if the clampdowns have dampened everything. Sounds like it!

Dampened is a word i would put on Pattaya. When the bars are not ringing in the Baht its clear to see the Thai smile not in evidence. Which i might add reflects on the punter & his night out.

The 1 o clock closing gave Pattaya a pathetic feel. All dressed up ready for the ball when the lights go out & music turned of. Incidentally the music was being monitored by the police so many bars had it low all night.

You get dressed up to impress the prostitutes how sad, could wear a dustbin liner and you can take home something tasty as long as you have the quoted price in your dirty sweaty palm.

Day of the Sex tourist are now numbered, yipee.

Afraid my wife & daughters like me appropriatley dressed when i'm enjoying a night out in Pattaya. I guess i must consider my wife tasty to take her home at night.

These numbered sex tourist! How does that work, do they get stamped on their arms & have to wear a yellow star?

People complain about how Pattaya has changed for the worse in four years.

What else is new?

You shoulda been in Rome 2000 years ago. It was really something then!

Its never as exciting as your first or second visit, but you've changed too.

It's still the best night out in the world.

They never are.

Ask Tommy Steele, back in the 60's, which is where the quote comes from.

Personnally I would turn the clock back 15-20 years, maybe more,

"those were the days, my friend......."

BEWARE: Last week, one of my business colleagues was ripped off - twice - at the Kitten Club.

Seven of us were staying at the Marriott for a business meeting. My friend from Hong Kong - this is a guy with an MBA who counts his money before he leaves the hotel, and can tell you where he has spent every baht all night - got shortchanged 200 baht by the mama-san. Boss told him to forget it, as it wasn;t worth the aggravation. Anyway, later that night he took a girl short time in an upstairs room, and at some point she lifted a 1000-baht note from his wallet.

Here's the sad part: The sign in the toilet says, any girl caught stealing has to repay 30 times the amount takem , or face legal action. But check out this reply from the manager of the Penthouse Hotel (which owns the bar):

"What an impossible situation ..... "He says, she says" ... Please tell your friend to put it down to experience,! move on, and in future, keep an eye on his valuables when in a room with a stranger! ... I believe the hotel offers safe deposit boxes for its guests ... Basic rules of survival in Thailand ...

Sorry, I can't be of more help ..."

What a moron - we spend 10,000 baht in the bar that night, and all I asked was that he talked to the girl, and he blows it off.

The experience left a really bad impression at the end of an otherwise nice holiday. The hotel was wonderful, we had great food, and the other bars were fine.

It's too bad that some farangs have s**t for brains and then blame the Thais. Anyway, The Kitten Club is off my list forever.

Don't see why you had to revive an old thread for this.

If Dudley is still at the Penthouse he will sort out both the money problem and the manager problem.

I lived there for a few months at one time and none of the employees would have been allowed to get away with 1) short change, 2) Telling a customer to forget it, 3) thieving. Not in the hotel, not in the club.

There are (were) lock-boxes by the Reception - one key for guest, one for receptionist, but they are not completely thief-proof. (What is?) And they can be opened at any time, day or night.

Things have moved on. Kitten Club have now captured the reputation of having the longest list of customer complaints of any other gogo in Pattaya. They even initiated such policies of not printing the prices on the (expensive) drinks tickets so that customers get a shock at the end when checking bin.

Yes, but don't you wish those good old 40++ baht to the dollar days would return. :o

I didn't notice the date when I started reading the thread. It is interesting to read about guys complaining about how quiet Pattaya was 2 1/2 years ago. Not much has changed.

How is low season this year 2007?

Is it slower than last year?

I can see a lot of usually (during peak season) busy restaurants doing it tough, but it's probably much the same every year. Traffic on the roads seems about the same all year around to me.

For permanent residents the low season is a bonus...it's my favourite time of year.

I have not touched base with my home in Patters for six soddin months.

All I can say is a miss it so much it almost hurts.

True peace ( Pong, lovely Pong ), and a pace of life which makes up for all the crap in HK. Blowing it all away, about 12 hours after landing.

I can't wait for my " worst time in pattaya ", as it beats the @#$%^^ out of where I am now.
