PLEASE stop experimenting with layouts on the live forum.

Why not use a backup copy of the system until you find a layout that :-

  1. Appeals
  2. More importantly, works

Then let it loose on us to comment and assist in improvement. :o

Nobody in the software world makes adjustments to a live system without thorough testing first. :D

I fully understand the need for updates, layout changes etc. to keep the forums fresh and appealing, but a layout change every few minutes, pul-lease. :D

PS I like the 'collapse' buttons on the main forum page, any chance that they'll become sticky so we can keep our less visited fora hidden? (or were they always there and Muggins only just noticed?)

Yes, and I see the dreaded adverts in the middle of threads *ahem* "feature" has reared its ugly head again. After the very negative feedback it got last time, surely you can't be thinking about putting it back in again???!!!

Actually with it between posts #1 and #2 it isn't too distracting.

George, not between every post, please :o

I visit a ton of forums across a lot of different topics and the secret to success of most of these is to show adwords all over to non logged in members or guests, but kill the blatant adwords insertions upon logging in.  You can sell the nondistracting adspace on a cpm basis to membersas well as running adsense in a column, header and footer.  Nothing worse than alienating your members.

There is an issue with the code that positions the 'between posts' Google ads :o

Looks like this:-

Seems OK until IE re-sizes to zoom the large images in this thread.
