i was at nong Khai train station this morning picking up a friend and to my surprise they were moving NEW train carriages on the tracks.

Finally the trains are being updated!!

I think those are for the rail service to Vientiane.

The tracks on the Lao side are a different width than here.

Look at the tracks and and you will notice there are 2 sets of tracks.

I read that the first 3 carriages of the new service into Laos will actually be the ones that travel into Laos so they would most likely be put into service in the Hua Lampong end of the service?

This could be more likely for a commemorative journey by VIPS to be the first across the borDer.
