After Shock ..

hi'

I guess that I'm not the only one feeling same, after this disaster, watching the news makes me feel strange ..

and I saw the reflect of this mood in here, no more "high topic", no more "LOL",

I may be wrong, but sometime I wish that we could overtake this and go on .. but,

and what a but, how can we talk about "light" things when we know what's happenning.

Here everybody at school asked me about, did the family of my wife lived there?

the director of the school had to give a report to check if some kid were missing.

we hear in each tv hour at least one tv-spot for Asia Aid ...

and then the big news, planet earth has moved on it's axes ...

no detail, just an announcement ... she moved, and then what?

what does it mean in reality for us all tomorrow?

northern europe is hit by destroying storms, floods ...California too :o

how do you feel about this troubled time and how do you go through it until now?

:D i'm sure most of the effects might be in the subconsieus, francois. most people look hard elsewhere not to see it.

As for mood it's not that happy happy maybe because we have a lot of new members now that don't know each other yet that much. i'm sure it's going to be again :o

sorry francios, I didn't see the thread when you first post it but here is my feeling from London....

Today we had our company newsletter & a woman from my firm was killed in tsunami in Thailand, I didn't know her but she worked in my building & after more than one month I didn't think that it would affect me close to home again (after finding all our friends were ok in LOS). My company is a major asian & european investment bank & the person tends to be not so important to them but when the Tsunami hit they were one of the first to make a substantial donation & we (employees) arranged own clothes days & raised more than 7k pounds in one friday & they asked me where best they thought the money should be sent (due to my living in LOS for 7 years). It's easy to go on with life & forget about it but today I had a reminder that we (in the west) mustn't become complacent & that money is only a small part of what the people of SE Asia need in this time of horror. My husband & I already talked about what we will do to help when we come in March & hope that others will do some smal part when they too are in LOS. :o

Francois - unfortunately human attention span is brief. Other headlines replace what was important yesterday. I know I'll do my part by visiting Phuket. Actually I was quite surprised reading the Wash Post yesterday - they did a huge piece on Why to Visit Phuket? I think in the long run this might have put the affected areas on the map so to speak and I think the tourists will be back in droves.

Apologies Francois,

Only just read your post.

A guy who works for our office lost his two brothers in Khao Lak and he's just as chipper as normal, that would have laid me flat for months, more even. I'm amazed at his resolve and character, maybe I'm not too comfortable with it either, but it is a constant reminder of perspective and how we should try to keep everything in it.

You might be right, after everything dies down enough the tsunami disaster may be a drawcard.

hi'

you see, in fact I may be just too worried, but when they said that the earth had moved on it's axes, I really felt strange, I began to think about all the consequences, climate, and who knows what's else?

the tsunami was already terrible, they announce 300,000 people gone ...

but, what if things become worse?

I don't want to be pessimistic but, everything I'm looking at or eading tells me that some things have changed, even the way news are announced ...

alright, people's reactions were so human(basicaly human) that they could do a lot and collect a hudge amount of money, just hoping that they will useit the right way ..

main question : is mankind going to pay for hundreds years of stupidity or have we got a chance to correct things a bit? .. you know, like a second one :D

may be I should take a drink ... but I can't :o

Since this thread was started, there have been several devestating hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunami´s and it´s only been a year and half.

The other day I was watching the sunset from my home. I don´t often see it from my work place, but this day, I was enjoying a cup of tea at sunset.

I suddenly realised, that for I don´t know HOW LONG, the sun is setting way beyond where it should set. Normally, it´s annual range is setting between one of the volcanoes across the lake, and the top part of a mountain.

It´s way off course, or, of course, the earth axis has indeed shifted.

Climate control, done by nature, perhaps?

But of course so many cultures and nations are far more interested in territorial wars and all that crap. Maybe Nature will flood those countries or something.

And Israel??????????? :o

reminds me of a joke, i heard once...

an english, irish, scots and welsh walking ont he beach...

Come across a lamp, and one of ´em rubs it, yep, sure enough a genie appears...

"Normally I grant three wishes, but in your case, I shall grant you four.

So the welsh man says, "I´m a miner, my father before me and my forefathers too. May there be a limitless supply of coal for all time!"

With a snap of his fingers, "Done!" says the genie.

The irish man "Oi´m a Fisherman, my father before me and my forefathers too. May there be a limitless supply of fish around Oireland for all time!"

With a snap of his fingers, "Done!" says the genie.

"I´m an Englishman. I´m sick of all these immigrants...Paki´s Indians, Moroccans, etc... I´m sick of it all.. i want a great big fuc.k off wall all around my country to stop people getting in."

With a snap of his fingers, "Done!" says the genie.

"And you, dear Scotsman, what may you be wishing for?"

"well, give me a second here. I´m interested in this wall you gave the english. How big is it and all that? "

The Genie says that "the wall completely seals off England. It´s fifteen miles high, and nothing and no one can get in, or OUT."

"ahh!", says our Scots friend. "In that case, my wish is that you fill in the walls with water. A great big fifteen cubic mile Dump of water."

Does that answer your question Khall?
