Ok i have recently acquired a Canon EOS 450 somethingorother camera, which i am informed is a pretty decent camera.

I've never really been one for taking photos, but im thinking as i now have this monster peice of kit, i should see if i have any level of talent at all with taking photos.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a reasonable guide that might help me get to grips with the basics, techniques, terminology etc etc?

Thanks :o

Stick it on auto mode, lowest ISO you can get away with, keep the sun behind or to your side and fill the frame.

Shoot as much as you can (images are free with digital eh?)

Then post a few images here and the members will point out the good and bad.

Believe me it's the best way to start. You can read all the books and links 'til you're blue in the face but there's nought like shooting and criticism.

Later you'll learn all about RAW processing and colour corrections etc - but a bit academic at this stage.

Good shooting - it's a nice camera

You might be new...but that doesn't matter.

Those of us without 'the Eye' try and make up for our defects by being collectors of equipment, and knowledge.... but one who has 'the Eye can take better photos with poor equipment than us lesser mortals with the best.

You never know...perhaps you are one of the few....with the 'Eye'
