Inexpensive Dining In Pattaya, Jomtien, Naklua

I live around the corner from Cherry's and down the street from Seaside. Different ends of the dining scale. I am organizing a "Cheap Charlies'" dinner club in the Pattaya City Expat Club for a Monday night dinner night. Preferably Western style food with a Thai menu also for the many Thai ladies that accompany the expats for dinner. The only real criteria I have is that the majority of the dinners (main meat/seafood dish, with potatoes/rice/pasta and vegetable under B150 ie at Seaside 2 the dinner of 2 pork chops, 2 scoops mashed potatoes, gravy and steamed vegetable is B120.

Another one on our list is Boat Bakery on second road. I am looking for suggestions for the group all suggestions welcome and if possible a sample of one or two dinners on the menu.

Thanks for your help

You might want to try the LK Kitchen on Soi Buakhao. It's a very good buffet, served every night, for 180 baht. If you order water, it's 210 baht. If you enter Soi Buakhao from Central Road-Pattaya Klang, it's the first left turn you come to. It's on the corner, on Soi Buakhao, at that left turn. You can't miss it. Plenty of parking in the back. There are plenty of Thai and Western selections. Like most buffets, it's best if you arrive early when everything is put out, rather than waiting until late when the food has been sitting there for a couple hours.

That 99 baht spaghetti place is called, I believe, Buono Bondi.

I'm a fan of Chinese dim sum. In the new Central Festival shopping mall, on the 6th floor there is a restaurant called Canton House. They serve dim sum from 11:00am to 11:00pm. Each selection is 15 baht. If you order water or tea, that's 10 baht. Four or five dim sum selections ought to be enough for most people. It's very good, high quality dim sum. There are also many other Chinese food selections on their menu, if you prefer.

Continental Bakery also has inexpensive dinner selections. They are most well known for breakfast, but they have very good inexpensive dinner selectons too. There are three locations in Pattaya. Most people who know the restaurant are probably familiar with their Jomtien location, on Thappraya Road, toward the beach just past the Tepprasit Road intersection. A second location is on the soi where the X-zyte disco is, off Third Road. Their third location is on the east side of Sukhumvit, on Soi Khaonoi, about a mile east of the railroad tracks.

Where is Seaside 2? I've never heard of it.

I think it would be helpful when people post about these restaurants to tell us where they are and how to get there. Please don't assume that everyone knows. I've never even heard of some of these places and simply posting the name, without any directions, is not very much help.

For me, I do go to Thai restaurants occasionally, but I really don't like Thai food. That's why I'm participating on this topic. I prefer the western food that I'm used to and if there are restaurants at which good western food is available at inexpensive prices, I'd like to know about them all.

We ate at Boat Bakery the other night, food inexpensive but mine was bland, needed salt and pepper for any taste. I had the fried chicken in potato patty. Cost B54, my GF had the pork chop dinner B78 with added scoop of rice, had to scrape off the gravy and did not finish it. She said she would not order it again, it was a complete dinner for a small eater. Our guest had deep fried bread with spicy ground pork (B50) and my GF shared it with her and both of them said they would order again. Cokes were B20 total cost of meal was B203 for 3 of us. Very inexpensive.

I always recommend the BK Grill in The Avenue Shopping Mall in Pattaya. The grilled pork steak is very tasty and priced right! I remember that it was less than 100 baht and each time I have visited it tasted fine.
