When you ask a question such as this you should not be vague about your nationality since every Embassy is different

If you are a US citizen then you MUST make an appointment via the US Embassy web site and you will be needing a Residency Affidavit, which is merely a statement from the Embassy that you swore that you live at .............

If your local immigration office will do it (I beleive some won't) they can give you a residency certificate that is much cheaper than getting it from the embassy. Pattay office did them last time I needed one.

Hello,

As noted before on this forum:

Residence certificate immigration Suan Plu - 100 Baht. Room 206 nice old Immigration Police ladies!

It must be less than 30 days old when presented at the licencing office.

2. Letter of 'Fit-to-drive' from Doctor - 100 baht (Some staff demand you produce one whilst others don’t so better you take one)

@orangutan

I have been reading conflicting posts saying that residence certificates are being phased out from the imm office in Chiang mai and places...

Also a recent post said that suan plu would take 2 weeks before they posted it to you (200 baht)

Other posts have said they only issue them if you are reporting every 90 days, is any of this true?

Please confirm that you have had one recently Orungutan?

What documents regarding where you live are required to apply for one?

How long did it take for you to recieve yours?

What visa did you have when you applied

This little piece of paper has suddenly got more tricky to obtain, plus i have read reports of the driving licence only been issued with letters from UK embassy costing 2300...

Any one with some more info?

I would like to clarify the above statement. When you go to the American Services Section in the consulate it is NOT required that you have an appointment. If you dont have an appointment then you just take a number and wait for it to be called. Without an appointment you just take your chances that they arn't busy.
