Buying A House Outside Bangkok

Featured Replies

Hi I am moving to Thailand soon for 3 years. I will be living in Bangkok and my company has arranged my accommodation. I am interested in buying a property outside the city.

Any advice on price, location and how to do this would be appreciated.

Very vague details. Which part outside Bangkok? North, South, East or West? Do you mean the outskirt of Bangkok or are you happy with a property in a province next to Bangkok, which can be 50-80km from the centre of Bangkok.

If you are a foreigner you will be looking for a freehold condo as non-Thai cannot own landed properties.

If a condo, what budget and size of space do you have in mind?

Trogers- If you are a foreigner you will be looking for a freehold condo as non-Thai cannot own landed properties.

Foreigners can own a house/villa 100% but have to lease the land it sits on.

k2chris- If your not a beach person or your budget is low, Kanchanaburi is a fantastic place to live. Only 2hrs west of Bangkok. You can buy a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom villa on a little resort near the river for around 1,500,000 Baht.

If you would like more details PM me.

Boycie.

I assume that you are aware that foreigners can not own property in Thailand. There are exceptions such as a foreign quota condo and certain 'gray area' Thai company schemes. Long term lease is also a possibility.
