Photography is also on the list of prohibited occupations for aliens....(not sure which planets though ;-)....)

I seem to remember a recent thread about this and that "Astral" determined that photography is not a restricted activity.

Might be worth checking out though.

you can get a work permit as a photojournalist no problem as I have one, but not so sure about other types of commercial photography such as weddings, fashion events etc... For the photojournalist one, you need an agency overseas to sponsor your application though and provide letter stating you work for them and in what capacity, you also need samples of your work.
