How Do Employers View Applicants Who Leave Current Job Half Way Through School Year?

Featured Replies

For various reasons I am considering looking for a new job at the end of this new term. I have already been at my current school for a year, but don't really want to complete another full year.

How do employers view prospective employees who want to leave their current school mid-year?

I would imagine that they would be a bit hacked off. Do you know the administrators well enough to still get a good reference if you bail out?

I think it depends on your reasons. If you have been a good employee and have a reason for leaving the school which does not reflect badly on the school, most employers will understand.

I'm giving 1 month notice tomorrow, on the first day of classes (I've been working just short of two years). I have received a job offer for more than twice my current pay. I work at a government school and they can't raise my salary. I think any prospective employer would not hold my termination of the employment contract against me.
