pdaz,

Old mate, the laws of supply and demand come into play, especially during these hard financial times, when every second somchai has his vigo for sale.

Your vehicle is only worth what someone will pay for it.

I will open the bid at 5,000 baht. Naturally I expect it to come with a full tank of diesel. PM me when ur ready to deliver :)

Why dont you check red book thailand

You have to pay to get a value but it will give you a good staring point.

Neverdie I up you 500,

I think you will be pleasantly suprised, i have a vigo and with the baht being strong now, the truck is now worth the same as i paid for it in gbp. They hold there price very well :)

Yeah I know the ''Only worth ......etc''

Trucks here don't seem to depreciate as fas as the west. And overall condition/kms doesn't seem to be as important to Thai dealers.. They just check the book price.. I've checked the small ads and tent dealers for someting similar to my to truck to compare it with by not much around.. I'm prolly just gonna part ex it when my new one arrives.. If their offer is realistic I won't bother with the agro of private sale. I was just looking for a ballpark figure.. I my mind I had 500k as a posible value.. but was hoping someone may have sold/bought a truck with similar spec to mine recently and could quote a price.. I'm not desperate to sell and I not in any real hurry.. But would be happy to punt it out at a price that was good for me and good for a buyer... rather than let a dealer make money on it by buying it cheap then selling it at a high price to another farang...

Auto or manual? Top of the range is automatic this will help sell it, autos are few and far between and sought after.

50000 to 100000 bht less than retail , they might offer you 400000 if yur car is worth 500000.

Your not a car dealer and dont have to pay 35k a month rent plus staff and other overheads, whilst tieing 10 grand english up to make 2 grand profit.

Good luck on anything over 400,000.

Daily adverts on pantip or thaisecondhand might get you 450,000

Dealers mosthly don't sale to another farang. Thais pay more for Picks than farangs. Foreigners allways forget: We living in Thailand and 99.9% of the populations are Thaipeaple, not farangs. Thais usually not value low km and they not that much nasty when comes to buy a used truck in compare some of cheap charlie farangs who likes to have everything perfect and almost for free! Thai Citizens can get finance easy (farangs not). So the truck is the value what the finance company wil finance (offer) plus 30'k downpayment, wich is usually the dealers profit (and i think it's not to much when you compare the delers overheads and rentals). Thais will buy, because many just can't afford to pay the high downmayment of 20% for a new one, let's say over 100'k. Therefore they buy used trucks. Finance value is quite different, depend on the location where you living. For example in BKK the finance company give maybe 50'k more than in Pattaya. Therefore it's always better to keep a vehicle registered in Bangkok. You'll suprised, sometime you get better price if you sell it in Bangkok, even at the Auctions, than bothering with some "farang timewasters". Other thing: Most of farangs want 4 door trucks, but Thais don't want them, because higher roadtaxes.

top model is the auto/leather g version 4 door, a cloth 2 door manual ( im guessing ) probably 350 from a dealer 450 out,.as for the guy saying its worth the same now as the gbp is strong, i dont see the relevance unless hes sent it over to blighty,( yes the baht was low when you bought maybe, but still is ) and over there now they are cheap, check ebay,.

im curious, are you thai or farang ?....ill bet the dealers ( are you one ? ) do prefer thai buyers as they just go and lay down and say "where do i sign ". i dont think its a case of farang being cheap charlies ( well not all of them ) its just that some like to bargain, the thai dealers have big profits but wont ususally budge,id rather buy off a farang, like the op,.

No, Thai prefere auto only for sedan cars. For Pick Up Trucks they want manual. In this case your car is more easy to sell do Thains as to farangs.

No i'm not Thai, but the problem with Toyota Cars is not much to bargain the price, because the prices are very strict (everywhere same, plus minus 5'k) on marked cars. Noone will sell cheap, because they can finance it or refinance it again and the finance value of those vehicles are sometime higher than a farang want to pay. Dealers basicly don't get much profit on a Japanese cars, this is a wrong idea. Dealers can't make much profit, because Locals usualy don't have much cash for a high downpayment. So on a truck like this usuaslly they don't get more than 30'k. The demand on Japanese cars is high therefore noone sell it cheap. Specialy in Isaan they like those trucks. They can finance privately sometime, even the interest are much higher. But the farangs usually think they can bargain the price 20 or 30% down, more than the dealers profit. Therefore the delaers don't care and try to find another customer. Usually even me as a foreigner think it's almost a racisstic idea to mention that someone recommend to only buy from a farang. So i have to ask what this peaple doing in Thailand? Can youy imagine if in UK a Thai go buy a car and would tell you he buys the car only if was driven by a Thai Citizen before? What would you think? Yes i'm a dealer and i bought many cars from Thais, never any major problems, except if they using LPG before. sometime their cars even in good condition. The problem with many farangs is that they expecting a 15 year old car, have to bee in a perfect condition and cheap. This is not possible. Cars are more expensive as overseas. You allways get what you pay for.

As a foreigner running a car dealership in Pattaya, with no doubt a portion of your custom coming from foreigners, i find your attitude very sad. Yes foreigners want a good deal and might try to haggle but what's your problem with that? How is it different from you wanting to maximize your profits. Both buyer and seller in any transaction have to look after their own interests. You shouldn't label such buyers as being cheap charlies or timewasters - no more than i should label you as a crook for being a used-car salesman.

If you still have the truck, I'd be seriously interested in buying it. I'm looking for a 4*4 pickup of around that age and mileage.

Cheers
