Thought I'd Learned A New Thai Word

Featured Replies

Morning all

whilst playing golf in Chiang Mai Gymkhana with my Father and Brother in law yesterday

I swung and hit a tree, but got a generous deflection.

<deleted>, <deleted>, <deleted>, said Father in law. I thought I had misheard

but the caddy agreed, I asked what it meant, and they said 'lucky'.

Great, I thought, a mildy amusing Thai word that I can actually remember!

So we happily continued our round, me using my new word '<deleted>' at any opportunity.

Afterwards, over drinks in the clubhouse, I told my wife about my new word.

She looked rather puzzled and said something to her Dad.

<deleted>, <deleted>, he said to me and I repeated it back to him smiling.

No, darling, said wifey - it's not <deleted> - it's FLUKE . . . . Doh!

So, DIDN'T learn a new Thai word after all :)

David

After the swing you can cheer: Long! Long! Long! ลง! ลง! ลง! "Down (the hole)" :)
