I would like a dentist recommendation for Pattaya for a Molar crown (lower), and a possible root canal. I broke off part of the upper tooth and the filling is exposed. Old filling that has been redone at least once in the last 20 years. I am surprised the tooth held up this long. Dentalo exam here was cursory and may or may not need a root canal. Have had two in the past and they don't bother me much so I don't care one way or the other.

In the USA, with my discount providor plan Careington, it will cost about $450 USD for the crown, and another $450 if the root canal work is needed.

I would love a Pattaya price comparison to that. I had two other crowns done here in the USA for a little less than that, and each also used a gold crown. I like the gold because it won't chip or crack or split.

Thanks

Dr Sornram Buddhachart at the International Soi 4, is a top fella, my experience wasn't 100% pain free but the man is a perfectionist and I couldn't be happier with the new crown

I expected root canal work but he decided to just replace the crown and if I still have any pain he will go through the front of the gum rather than remove the tooth

If you have a dental plan in the US then you should use it. I would go to an endodontist(root canal specialist) if you do need a root canal and go to a prostodontist for the crown. They only do crown and bridge work. Be careful about getting a dentist who will do all the work. The general dentists tend to be a jack of all trades. My father is a endodontist in the states and I believe in most cases a specialist does better work than a general dentist. As far as dental work here, I go to Dental Hospital Bangkok on Suk 49. They do great work and it is fairly priced.

Believe it or not I'm in the middle of the exact same work on my lower rear molar right now.

Steps and prices as follows:

1. My dentist first fitted a temporary filling to see if I could get away with no root canal work. Cost: 200 baht

2. Performed root canal over 3 treatments. Total cost: 5,000 baht.

3. Tomorrow will have a permanent filling put in plus a palladium dental crown fitted over 2 sessions. Total cost: 7,000 baht.

Total cost US $350

The crowns range up to 10,000 baht if you want a high percentage gold crown.

My dentist is exceptionally efficient and does standard check ups with cleaning for 500 baht.

Unfortunately, most of the year you have to make an appointment 1 to 2 weeks in advance because he is very busy. I could make a limited number of referrals via PM. I don't want him to get too busy by advertising him to the world.

PS. This dentist uses autoclaves

What will they think of next? Have individual specialists for incisors, canines, premolars and molars?

Dental work in the US is ridiculously expensive and that's compared to already way overpriced dental work in Australia.

Don't underestimate the skills of Thai dentists. Another advantage not many consider is that most Asians have much smaller hands and fingers than Western dentists. This is one reason why I prefer female dentists back at home. A fully open mouth is a very small area to work in.

There's no way anyone needs to travel to Bangkok for a dentist. There are many talented ones right here in Pattaya.

How I Beat The Pattaya Dentist Cartel:

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Beat-Pattaya...l&hl=cartel

The OP is asking for prices on dental work, specifically root canal and crowns. He's not trying to find the cheapest place in Thailand where you can have a clean for 280 baht.

You haven't come out with any useful information about pricing at the public hospital in Banglamung except for cleaning and some small fillings.

If you fly to India you can get your dental work done even cheaper still.

Obviously. And Banglamung does root canals and crowns, so whatever price the cartel is charging, Banglamung will be far cheaper. As a rough estimate, 50%. So, if interested, the OP can inquire.

The OP also asked for recommendations in general but would "love" a price comparison. I gave a recommendation and that was sufficient to stay on the topic.

The OP may nevertheless find it useful to know what I said. If you're that concerned, go to Banglamung yourself and publish the prices you learn.

But since this post of yours addresses an entirely different topic--my post--you don't have a case anyway and are just trolling.

If you fly to India you can get your dental work done even cheaper still.

If you get out some maps, you'll discover that Banglamung is a bit closer to Pattaya than is India. Are you done wanking now?

Hey, how about you give up the flaming?

So you are guessing that Banglamung is far cheaper and estimate 50%.

This is totally unfounded (nonsense) unless you can come up with a price, not guess work. I've given the exact price for the dental work that the OP wants done. How about you do the same and add some credibility to your story.

12,000 for root canal and a palladium crown is a very good price.

Are you sure that the quality of work done at Banglamung is as good as my private dentist's work in Pattaya? I wouldn't be so sure...in fact I'd be sure it isn't. Good dentists don't usually want to work for shit money at public hospitals.

Thanks Tropo. I still am not sure of my travel plans. I was going to head to Pattaya later this week, but I may get hijacked at the last minute for a contract in San Diego, CA. I think they are making me an offer I can't refuse. I can't turn down $2600 a week take home, no matter how much I wanted and was planning to head to Thailand. Trip number 10 to Thailand may be on hold for a little while. Oh well, I have had worse choices in my life. Make more money now so I can stay longer in the LOS next time.

Thanks again for the post.
